Why Doesn't...

Miami, San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Philadelphia, or Arizona trade for Shaun Alexander or Edge James for a 2nd Rd Pick? Miami no 2nd but could make something work. TB or Chi could get a stud then add Edwards or Williams at wideout. Philly has 13 draft picks. I'd rather Alexander over Travis Henry if I was Dennis Green. A longer term contract would be cap acceptable. I don't get it? Why not?

I know its wierd aint it. All these killer player Edge,SA,DH and no one wants to make a deal. This is very wierd i think. Maybe there all waiting till draft, if so this should be a very interesting draft.

It\'s easy to understand why. Miami, San Fran, Tampa Bay, Chi, Ari all have a shot at the top 3 backs in the draft. They will be cheaper, and just as good as Edge or Alexander. In Philly\'s case, they already have Westbrook, can get a JJ Arrington late or Eric Shelton, and won\'t have to pay a 10-15 mil bonus to Edge or Alexander. Anyone who trades for them has to be prepared to pay a signign bonus in that range, and the teams mentioned don\'t have the money to do that. Plus San Fran has Barlow, whom they are giving another chance as far as I understand. Chi has Thomas Jones.

How do they know that these rookies will be that good?
Both SA and EJ are capable of leading the nfl in rushing.
These rooks could be bums as far as anyone knows.
(look at Sully, and Daunte has\'nt lived up to expectation\'s yet. Dont know about you all but i\'ve expected more from both of em. and we thought they were going to be special.

Um, cause these rookies are studs. I seriously believe Donte\'s progress has been slowed by injuries in his first two seasons, but that was his knock coming out of college. But he was never as good a football player as the top 3 RBs in this draft. That\'s just a bad comparison. And Sullivan was the 5th or 6th best DT in his draft depending on who you read before the draft, so that\'s an even worse comparison. If you don\'t beleive Cadillac, Brown , or Benson are special, I really just don\'t know what to tell you. There are some serious offensive studs in this draft. I wish our defense was better so we could get in the mix. But all three of these guys will be able to do what EJ and SA do. I fully believe that, and obviously NFL GMs and draft experts believe it too.

I did not know that they could be had for that cheap draft pick wise, but the money that they would have to pay them has to be the determining factor. Also, it seems that I heard somewhere that running backs have an average career of six years. Edge has been around six years, and Alexander five.

Running back is one of the more replaceable positions in the NFL. If I was a GM, I would be hesitant to pay big money to a running back.

If there such stud\'s and why are teams wanting to trade down and why aint everyone jumping at the chance to move up and get one? And im not really comparing them (sully and stallworth to the RB\'s in draft) I\'m just saying that alot of times 1st round picks turn out to be not as good as expected.

What team lower in the draft than them do you see as needing a RB that should move up and draft one of the top 3 studs? Do you know of any? The teams at the top of the draft are the ones that need these guys. Pittsburgh doesn\'t need one, the Eagles don\'t, NE, doesn\'t, The Rams don\'t, Dallas doesn\'t, Cincy doesn\'t, Indy doesn\'t, The Jets don\'t, the Packers don\'t, the Vikes don\'t(although they are in a position to take one), we don\'t, the Texans don\'t. Who out of the top 10 as do you see as needing a RB bad enough to trade up for one at that cost? Doesn\'t make them any less studs.

And this is besides the fact that teams at the top wanna trade down cause they don\'t have salary cap room as it is, not cause they don\'t want the. HUGE difference.
