Is Ingram in prison?

Saints RB Mark Ingram's big year could trigger early free agency - NFL.com

"If Ingram keeps going the way he's going, and if he gets an assist from sports writers who vote on the All-Pro team, he will have earned his freedom."

Already been discussed... he's a UFA if he meets incentives.

I think arsaint's point is how the writer uses the phrase "earned his freedom" which implies being under contract with the Saints is something negative.

Normally I would say that we should trade Mark after this season because he is at the height of his ability and most valuable, but Mark is only 27. His 7 years would normally put a RB right next to the dreaded 30. I'd see about extending him for 2-3 years and letting him go at 30. He is in his prime right now. In addition, his first 7 years he was not beat to death like some RB's are.

No offense arsaint..............that is a stupid question. Mark is where he wants to be. Unless he can't make it on the "outside" then it's an over statement meant as back handed compliment/insult.

I think it's the "earned his freedom" thing. Freedom? Really? More like earned his Powerball winning ticket (with PowerPlay).

Sports writers and their stupid sayings. Wish we could earn some freedom from them.

Exactly. He could be on the front end of a 5 year deal with the Browns instead...

But even then, he be making millions of dollars to hate his job. Something most of us would gladly take…
