Who is Taysom Hill?

Taysom Hill; #7, 3rd string QB, had never worn a Saints uniform before yesterday's game against Carolina. He had never played on Special Teams before yesterday, & he had never recorded a tackle in a game before, including High School & College, but yesterday he had 2 solo Special Teams tackles and got close to blocking 2 punts.
Impressive.

Look, I'm not going to post links. If you want to know more just Google him. There's plenty of good articles out there to read, especially after yesterday's standout performance, & Troy Aikman's comment during the game quoting Sean Payton as saying Drew Brees' replacement is "in the building" (referring to Taysom Hill).
But I will say this, Sean Payton loves this guy, and he was so confident in Hill's athletic ability that he activated him to the roster this week to play Special Teams for the first time ever.

Is Taysom Hill going to be Drew Brees' heir to the QB position? Or just another Guido Merkens?

There is a long list of young QB's that Sean Payton "loved". Who knows, maybe he is the guy. But, i'm gonna be cautious with my enthusiasm.

Going to be fun to watch him in the coming preseason... If he plays QB anything like he does Special Teams; Look Out!

He's a cute story who I wouldn't be surprised if he gets mentored by and has some sort of coaching job in his future. Fun to root for but not likely an NFL quarterback.

Re: Who is Taysom Hill?

Gifted athlete but has had many debilitating injuries. Year on year off kinda injuries. He is also older so not a long term solution. The injury bug went away once his opportunities to get on the field went away. Remember that. He is also running full blast and tacking folks with uncommon speed which, a rational person would determine not a good idea for an injury prone QB.

what the heck he had a huge impact on special teams. He also gave the side lines a lift in spirits. give him a raise.

A Guido Merkens reference. Awesome! Im 42. Never saw Guido play but my dad told me the stories. Did he play QB, WR and punt? I saw a interview with a hall of fame Raider CB. Forget his name. He was asked about his worst NFL moment and he immediately said he got beat on a long TD bomb to Guido Merkens a 3rd string utility player for the Saints. We have tried this before. Aaron Brooks was an athletic QB plucked from Green Bay too. We cut Hebert for an athletic QB named John Fourcade. When I was a Who Dat toddler I thought Fourcade was the next coming of Terry Bradshaw. Oops. Ditka cut Jim Everett who passed for a ton of yards in his career for Heath Shuler who was another big strong fast QB. I say wearing #21 in college shouldve been a giveaway of his QB abilities. None of them had Sean Peyton as their coach though. Being a RB who plays QB out of BYU has worked before though. Do we have the next Steve Young? Could we be like the 49ers and go from one hall of fame champion QB to another? I hope he blocks a kick this year.

Says something about the current ST'ers on this roster to have a 3rd string QB who's never played a down in college or in the NFL making plays on ST in his 1st NFL game. Or may just say a whole bunch about him.

Teach him to be the holder & set the world on fire.

Re: Who is Taysom Hill?

Basically a smarter, faster Michael Vick sitting on the bench. The team and fans also loves it like the Beer Man so a good move. Everyone feeds off that energy.

Lol, I'll give the guy credit on special teams yesterday but all of this faster than Vick stuff is a stretch. Mike ran a sub 4.3 40.

He's 27yo. If Brees makes it to 45 like he wants, Hill wont be our QB til he's 34

I was lucky to see and remember him! I recall watching games just to see where he was going to play. I saw him play WR, RB, QB, punter and even was a Center

That was the original claim. Regardless he is blazing fast. And every QB is smarter than Vick so not really a thing.

I gained my nickname a couple of year before Merkens became a Saint. I became a fan of his right away.

I hope we don't see him throw for the next 10 years, all because he's backing up Drew.

Re: Who is Taysom Hill?

The fact is Bum took a liking to Guido Merkens brought him with him to New Orleans.
It appears that history is repeating itself, did you see Coach's reaction to Taysom on the sidelines.
Guido was just that kind of a player you never knew where he was going to wind up on the field.
