Mcpherson on ESPN

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; They just showed a clip interviewing AM. Talked about all his talent and his past. They also had Rick Muellur on there saying that he should get a shot in the NFL. Maybe a sign? Just something to keep up ...

Maybe a sign? Just something to keep up intrest.

I for one wouldnt be too upset if we got him in the 3rd or later, all depending on who is still on the board at the time. He has a very high risk/reward. If he can become a student of the game he could definitly put some pressure on Brooks.

The Saints were at his workout a few weeks ago and were watching him. I also think that the Saints QB coach ran him through the drills if Im not mistaken. Very high risk/high reward player. The thing that I like about him is that instead of just leaving school and entering the draft right away, he chose to pay his dues and play in the Arena League. Maybe this shows a true sign of growing up or maybe he was just trying to make it look like he has grown up. Only time will tell. I like the prospect of drafting him though, but at what point do we sacrifice filling a need in the third round in order to draft him? I say if no one is available who can be an impact player at a need position when we pick in the third and AD is there, then we pull the trigger.

Very true...and the fact that McPherson has some professional experience might make him more NFL ready than many of the other prospects(granted it was in the Arena league.)

Hey the Arena league helped to pay off those bounced checks of his, didn\'t it??? That\'s worth something.

I don\'t get this about being a \"high risk\" player. If he\'s drafted in the 4th or later round I think that can be considered a steal. The only bad thing he\'s been guilty of was floating bad checks. People, do your homework. If you\'d look you\'d see that he really isn\'t all that \"high risk\" at all. He\'s a sleeper if anything. He has all of the physical tools to be an elite QB....he\'s just a little raw and relies too much on his talent. I will go on record as saying he will have the most success of any NFL QB rookie this year.

If we could get him in the 4th, i\'d love it. In the 3rd, if he is still there, i\'d like to see us get that kicker Nugent from Ohio State, if nothing else so that Tampa doesn\'t get him. It\'s time for Carney to go. 22/27 last year and barely able to hit from 50 any more. Peace out bud. But Nugent is phenomenal. As much trouble as we have scoring a guy who can make from longer than 50 would be huge, we won\'t have to pooch punt as often and could be more aggressive. And he would be here for the next 10-15 years hopefully. But Tampa may pick before us int he 3rd, hope we can work something out to move up before them. Then hopefully McPherson in the 4th.

As much as i want to agree with this i doubt he will see much playing time, I do however think he will have the best career of any of these QB\'s drafted.

Was he convicted of Betting on games as well? I remember them saying something about that on ESPN.

I know he stole a blank check and cashed it and confessed to his coaches a week later.

Convicted of betting on the word of a bud of his who took a deal. He never admitted to it and to this day still hasn\'t.

Like i said earlier, Ijust wonder if he will turn out just like Brooks. All the physical skills you want, puts up good stats, but lack leadership.
Does anyone have any insight as to this part of him? Is he prone to make the Brook type mistakes?

Personally, I think only Brooks is prone to the Brooks like mistakes. Just seeing them replayed on television should be a deterrent for any young QB coming into the league to not make the same boneheaded plays. I like the label \"Brooks type mistake\" though.

As far as leadership goes, he did take over his arena league team at his young age and played extremely well. I know it\'s only arena league, but they have veterans over there too and they believed in him. Better than nothing IMO.
