ESPN: Saints' difficult coaching changes have paid off so far...

One year ago today, instead of preparing for the New Orleans Saints' first playoff game since 2014, Sean Payton was officially announcing one of the toughest decisions he has made in 12 years as a head coach -- the firing of longtime assistants Joe Vitt, Greg McMahon and Bill Johnson...

Remember catching hell here from some when I stated that Vitt, Johnson must geaux...

Kept challenging my respected friends here to name one linebacker Vitt developed...

Argument was that we hadn't drafted high enough on linebacker, which was a fair challenge...

But not one, not one in all the years Vitt had been here; only a bunch of league trouble and other drama...

Well, I'm glad, not for Payton's legacy, but for my home team, that Sean made the difficult, right, and long-overdue call...

Nolan, Nielsen are your co-MVPs; Cam's elite ascension; Linebackers that keep stepping in; reducing the passing time; list goes on...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Why Defense never improved until Vitt and Johnson were gone. I knew they were garbage and should of been gone sooner.

McMahon kept the Saints from winning games because special teams sucked ass.

I knew this would pay off. I only got questions on Dennis Allen though, so far he has the defense as good as its been since 06 season. But I got serious Trust issues with him.

I knew touch and hard changes needed to be made and as long as Patyon made them I was good with him staying. Some coaches stick to their guys and causes them to be fired. SP is one of a kind.

I think as a Coordinator Allen has done a good job but the coaching changes that were made this past season are without question the reason for this defenses success. Sure we have added quailty talent from the draft but the proff for me is we keep pulling replacements off the street and the units keep perfroming. That credit goes to the Dline LBR's DB's coaches putting our players in a system that they can succeed by being in the right place and knowing what to do ... Then just flat out playing without having to think about it.

Yes the D has attitude and they seem to like each other. When you have players who like playing with each other its a good thing.

Hopefully we won't have a disgruntled & fired coach invent a fairy tale story about us that gets our coach suspended and screws our team for the next few years.

Just hope we keep Mike Nolan, even if he has to step up to DC...
