If Brown is still there @ 16, would u take him?

Nevermind, he goes # 13 to Houston

To answer your question, if he was there at 16, hell yeah I would take him, and trade Deuce for a definite stud LB or DT. To Minny for Kevin Williams? To Miami for Surtain? Somewhere. I would do it. I know how much hate mail this is gonna get me though. But Ronnie Brown at a number 16 pick salary? Hell yes. Now let me go duck and cover. ;)

Saints of course get Thomas Davis.

Great, another project! I would grab Brown @ 16, and send Duece away for a STUD LB, I\'m talkin young, pro-bowl bound and legit. No more projects or high-risk please

I agree with that 100% if Brown is there at our pick. Hell , if the Broncs can trade Portis, and The colts and Seahawks can openly shop their pro bowl RBs, Deuc eisn\'t untouchable, especially if he gets us a true stud defensive player. It would be worth it. It would be like getting two players with that one pick.

I kind of agree with saintsfan. While I have no doubt that Davis is talented and would thrive in the right situation, the Saints are not that right situation. Same goes for Marlin Jackson.(although I do like him as a CB). We need a pure position player, not someone who has split time between two positions in college. While other rookies are fine tuning their skills to NFL standards, this guy will still be learning dimensions of the position. There\'s no way he can be as good an LB as a full time LB of his same talent level.

saintsfan1313 Houston wouldn\'t take him, they have Dominick Davis, and this will be his 3rd year, I believe. The only team below us who might take him might be Carolina, because of Davis\'s age and Foster\'s knee problems.

Yes Houston has Davis, but he has proven he is not the every down power back Capers wants. that\'s why Jonathon Wells sees so much time. If Brown was there, I definitely could see Houston not letting him slide and farther. It would give them great depth, but also the combo of power and speed theyare looking for.

Agree Carlolina seems like a good fit. But we better get a stud linebacker or we\'ll regret it two times per year as Deuce exacts his revenge!

you really think that we can get a good pick for him???

you screwed your staement oin the first line.... colts and seahawks are shopping thier RB\'s AND GETTING NOTHING FOR THEM....the RB is so deep this year, no one wants a RB....

we do not need to trade deuce, he is the only reason our team even resembles a team.... we would not get any decent anyone for him right now....

trading deuce for a 5 yr old LB is not a very smart idea... i cant believe it was even brought up... thank god so of you guys are not in the war room...

Wow. Alexander and James are not going anywhere until the draft is over. I will bet they move then. If they are gonna move at all. Teams can give up picks next year depending on what they get this year in the draft.

If you wouldn\'t know Ronnie Brown at 16 is a freaking steal, I don\'t know what to tell you. Do you recall we had Ricky Williams and we took Deuce? How did that work out? Okay right? What about having Darren Howard and taking will Smith? Seems like it will work out. You do not let a player of Ronnie Brown\'s caliber slip by us at 16. Deuce will be gettign a new contract this year or next. Do we take a faster, just as powerful back at 16 and pay him less for the next 3-4 years, or sign Deuce to a megadeal and hope his durability doesn\'t become an issue? Although I love Deuce, RBs are a dime a dozen, and Deuce could fetch us a pretty damn good player in a trade, or at the very least a high pick next year.

Noone said we NEEDED to trade Deuce, you screwed YOUR whole argument withthat statement. It would be a LUXURY to trade Deuce with Brown falling to 16. It\'s not as if anyone is saying move up to get Brown and trade Deuce. It is a million to one scenario that Brown would even fall to us. Try again.

saintwhodi --

You do understand that the NFL is a little different than fantasy footbally, eh?

You just don\'t trade away all of your great players. There is such a thing as team chemistry. And the runningback does more than just run the football. Although a rookie RB might rack up a lot of yards, they often make mistakes.

And what kind of message would trading Deuce away send to the rest of the team?

Trading Deuce McAllister for any RB in the draft just makes no sense. Why draft a RB when it\'s not a need? Is that player going to be that much of an improvement over Deuce? I highly doubt it.

And leave the cap issues to the ones whose job it is to take care of stuff like that. ;)

So, you didn\'t notice we drafted Will Smith when we had Howard and Grant? Or that we drafted Deuce when we had Ricky? Well, since you obviously didn\'t see those drafts, you are excused. This team takes BPA, that\'s what we do. The one time they reached, it was a huge disaster. So history states, if Brown is there, we would take him.

The point is, Brown would be the best player on any board at 16. I don\'t care if we took him and then traded him, whatever. But you don\'t let him roll past us like Moss and George did. You don\'t.

Yeah, cause that worked out so well for San Fran and Ten. Just cause I don\'t work in the NFL in a cap managing job, doesn\'t mean I don\'t understand the cap. But since we are handing out advice, leave the talent evaluation of this team to the ones whose jobs it is to do that. Why, I don\'t think you\'d ever be able to post again. :o

So, should the Pats trade Tom Brady (6th round pick) for the top rated QB in the draft?

I mean, afterall, Drew Bledsoe was expendable.

Or you think that would have and adverse affect on the Pats?

Drafting Deuce worked out well for us. But I don\'t think we want to go to the \"well\" once too often.

You know, there\'s always an example to point to to support trading ANY player.

But, I don\'t think the Colts want to trade Manning.

I don\'t think the Ravens want to trade Ray Lewis.

And trading Deuce would be foolish.

saintswhodi 04-21-2005 06:04 PM

Um, Is Brady a RB? Is Manning? Is Ray Lewis? My point is RBs are a dime a dozen, and Brown is regarded as the best one in the draft.

And who is it hurting to trade Deuce? The NFL is a business. You think these guys are hanging out after games drinking beers? AB has all but been called a hermit. Please. There is no team chemistry to mess up here. Do you not recall the \"false love\" your boy preached about? So you wanna mention chemistry players on chemistry teams to prove your point? Seiously? Anything to try to prove a point huh? And then you are putting Deuce on the level of a Ray LEwis or a Manning or a Brady. I bet if any one of those teams wanted to trade any of those players for Deuce we would jump on it in a heartbeat. Give me a break.

I agree with Billy. :o

You\'re on crack Whodi, but I don\'t even have to say that b/c Billy already made a good argument. :o

I need to go lie down.

I\'m on crack cause I am not opposed to trading Deuce? So saintsfan1313 is on crack too? Why the hell is anyone on this team irreplaceable? That is totally ridiculous. But I am speaking to someone who doesn\'t realize there is a salary cap and thinks we should just keep everybody. :casstet:
