Ross Tucker and Solomon Wilcots covered the play Monday morning on NFLSirius. The play call is what is known as "Final Play". Meaning at all costs keep the receiver in bounds and the clock wont have enough time for another play (FG attempt). I know his dive looks like he 'took a dive' but he dove to the outside which is what would have prevented Diggs from going out of bounds.

The second comment was that the CBs should have been 5-7 yards deeper so that Marcus would have had help. They actually said that while the perception is that Williams failed, it was Dennis Allen's responsibility to push those corners back.

Hats off to Williams for not making one single excuse that I have seen or heard, he is taking the heat like a gentleman.

This.

Same thing happened vs Tampa Bay & Carolina. Dennis has to clean this up.

Im Impressed by Marcus Williams way of handling this, and also very impressed with many of our fans.

I predict a big season for him in '18, starting with the first preseason game, where he will come out on fire.

I feel better that he didn't at least say it was my fault. That letter is sorta like kissing you mom full on French and telling your dad you won't let it happen again!

Re: Message from Marcus Williams

This play meant nothing to me. His emotions got the better of him on a very big stage. Marcus Williams is a stud. Period. I'm glad he's a Saint and hope he is for years to come. And I often make snap judgements of players if I see something I don't like. He'll learn from that and move on.
