Those last 4 games allowed them to prove the naysayers wrong. We have a good D apparently. And we pass on the best tackle in the draft, to again TRADE UP for a guy who woulda probably been there at 16. WTF is going on with this team? When do the monkeys stop running the drafts? I am disgusted right now. Our defense was last, but those last 4 games was enough to show we turned a corner. Unbelievable. I am sure Brown will be great, but our defense was last.

This trade is so much like the Sullivan deal. Passing on Trufant for a lesser rated player. DJ will burn us, I promise that.

It wasnt too bad of a pick since tackle was a need. I guess Haslett is sticking to his plan of a runing game by getting a solid offense line

Right tackle is a need. Our right tackle are very bad and we needed a lift. Our O-line was a door mat on the right side.

If we would have picked an runningback or wide out then I would have been pissed.

The pick did 2 things: 1) Screwed Carolina over which needed a right tackle worse than we did and we play them twice a year and 2) secured our O-line for our pass attack and opens more holes for Deuce.

Sure tackle was a need, and Brown is good, but it still doesn\'t change the fact that we passed on the best LB in the draft. We didn\'t do a damn thing to help our defense that is ranked dead last in the league. This is embarrassing. When will the Saints learn that they don\'t have to throw a curveball in every draft? We upgraded a minor need, so I guess that\'s a good thing. But we left a glaring hole in our team: OUR WHOLE FREAKING DEFENSE. This is so stupid. Do they honestly think that our defense is good? They have to, that\'s the only explanation. Otherwise, they would want to imrpove the defense that is 32nd in the league. I don\'t understand what they think when they are in the war room, but it\'s probably about what their b**** is cooking for dinner tonight, because it\'\'s obviously not about what would make our team better.

Why don\'t we all just pump the brakes a bit. The pick was smart and adressed an immediate need on a very poor O line.. true...the D sucked but I think that the FO is going for overkill on the offense...similar to Indy and KC a couple of seasons back.......just relax ya\'ll and wait...(ching)

I give the pick a overall B.

Getting Brown is an A. We now can move Mayberry to guard. It was like getting two players. Great pick.

BUT!

We payed way too much for him. Pick #40 BETTER be a f**king LB or DT, or I give this draft an F (for addrerssing needs).

I don\'t care how good Brown is, Barron and Barnes would have been there at 16 and are probably just as good.

I do like that he has a mean streak like Bentley, but a 3rd to move 3 spots is too much and I don\'t care what the value charts say.

it is a 2006 3rd so they grade down as being like a 4th thid year. not so bad in that regard. the pain is just after so many usting after dj for months that they pass on him when available.

Yes we need an OT, but not with DJ right there. Yes we need an OT, but not enough to trade up for a guy who will prob have been there at 16, and if not, what about Barron? He is pretty damn good. And not fat. That dude is cut. Then we don\'t go LB in the second round either, and we haven\'t traded Howard. DJ WAS RIGHT THERE!!!!!!! This is un :censored: believable.

It gets worse! WTF, a FS? Sure we need depth, but we need starters at DT and LB. This is insane!

Thurman is still on the board; I\'m going to cross my fingers.

I thought the Brown pick was just fine, though I too wanted DJ. This FS nonsense is just that... nonsense.

Here\'s my take on the FS pick.

1. We will have another year with no hope of the 2nd rounder seeing the field. Bullocks will be sitting next to Stinchcomb and Henderson on the sidelines. At some point we need to be getting starters out of the second round.

2. He is a pretty good zone player. The pity is that both are corners only shored up the pass defense when they started playing man. Why do we need this guy again?

3. He\'s wildly inconsistent. I suppose this is why he was drafted, perfect fit for this team. Sean Taylor this kid is not.

4. What the heck does our FO\'s draft board look like? I\'m having a hard time believing Bullocks wouldn\'t have been there in round 3. A HUGE reach.

5. We continue to ignore key areas of need. (stop the run anyone?) Better players were available at 40. We blew it.

... picking Brown was the best move this FO has ever made...
... the Saints are going to need a really good O-line when trying to come back from 21 points down with almost no time on the clock left because everyone will be able (once again) to run the ball through the middle at will...
