Success drafting At 11-5 vs. 7-9

Jeff Ireland is a draft guru and was an excellent addition to the front office. As we know he joined the Saints when they met with him at the Senior bowl. He was working with limited information and bad scouting his first year here and did well enough to give us Davison and Peat.iirc

The last two drafts he nailed for us. However, he was also picking at #12 and #11 which leaves your draft board with more clarity and you can find good players who fall when you draft early. Drafting at #27 makes me wonder how many players can we expect to drop to us late in each round?

Also, we don't have five picks in the first three rounds and traded away this years second round draft pick to move up for Kamara. This alone is huge!

Good scouting also counts for a large part of our recent success I believe. Jeff Ireland is still the man in New Orleans and I'm very enthusiastic about this years draft and thing we can nail it again!

Re: Success drafting At 11-5 vs. 7-9

Nailed the pick at 32 last yr. After last yrs epic draft haul it will be hard to nail this yrs draft like last yrs.
I think that I would like to trade back to the very top of the second rd and get another pick
. The difference between the quality of the talent at 27 is close to the players in the top of the second rd. Before FA it is hard to plan for the draft because needs change according to the players you get and the players other teams pick.
Whoever gets Kirk Cousins in FA is going to affect the draft order significantly.
We are fortunate to have only a pressing problem at DE. I could see a player like Arden Key falling . I remember when we took Cameron Jordan he was ranked way higher than where we picked. You just never know how it will play out. I can't wait to find out! WHO DAT!
