We selected Alfred Fincher over Darryl Blackstock??????

We have got to be retarded.

A least its an LB. When we are at 8-8 next year or worse, at least we won\'t be able to say \"and the Saints didn\'t even bother to get an LB.\" Even if he has projected to be a fifth round LB.

From football.com:

Quote:

Albert Fincher I UConn
6-1, 240

Strengths-Good athlete with decent range. Solid tackler who plays the run well. Above average hand skills help his shed blocks quickly. Decent recognition skills. Quick coming off the edge on the blitz.

Concerns-Lacks top speed to cover deep routes. Can play high at times and lose leverage. Hasn\'t faced top competition on a regular basis.

Overall-Fincher may be one of the more underrate prospects in this draft. His skills and playmaking abilities make him a player worth a further look. No fewer than nine NFL teams are giving Fincher attention. He should go earlier than many expected. Possibly as early as round three.

Well hey, Mel Kiper likes the pick. I think we could have salvaged this if we had taken Blackstock who was supposed to have been considered for us at the #40 pick. Not to mention he\'s still considered Mel\'s BPA. Unbelievable. We took Alfred Fincher. We passed on Blackstock. Unbelievable.

This is obviously a player that the Saints believe will be a run stopping linebacker who will get subbed in with Courtney Watson on running downs. According to the reports I\'ve seen, he probably won\'t be starting material for his entire NFL career. Only marginal upside and limited athletic skills.

Overall, he\'s not a god-awful pick like Bullocks, but he\'s not a good pick for our desperate LB corps. I\'m still VERY disappointed in this year\'s draft.

Blackstock is a 3-4 LB. The Saints use a 4-3. Do the math. Blackstock is a one-dimensional pass rusher. Our defense can\'t stop the run. Now we can.

Do some homework before you go ape-****, OK?!

Really? Blackstock is a 3-4 linebacker? No way. I\'ve seen the guy play before. But just because he played in a different scheme in college doesn\'t mean that he can\'t play a 4-3 in the pros. That reasoning makes no sense. He still could have been a talented addition to our unathletic linebacking corps. Besides, what\'s wrong with a little bit of pass rushing? You think just because he rushed the quarterback most of the time in college, that he can\'t do anything else? He can\'t improve? Can\'t adapt? This guy\'s too athletic not too.

Although we\'re upset with some of the draft picks, I\'m still guessing the FO/scouts know more about these players than anyone on this board. Seriously, we are fans and watch weekly, but I\'m sure there\'s more of a science to it than that.
