Yawn. Of course they have. They also said on NFL Radio that it is a normal state of affairs. They call knowing there is no chance but it keeps avenues open with the agent, who is likely representing other players already on their rosters or whom they may be interested in getting.

NFL network just said expect a 2 yr deal done today. Said saints offered 22 and Brees wants over 26. Believes the contract should split the difference and be around 24 a year.

No, they never said that. They said they are guessing that the numbers would be around there. They have no more of an idea what has been discussed than you or I.
