Saints draft Marcus Davenport after trading up in first round

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Seems like a decent pick. But the Saints probably could have made the deal without giving up the first round pick for next year....

Why do you say that? Were you sitting there negotiating?

Come on. If they could have given up less they would have. They aren't a bunch of dumb****s that have never done this before.

They knew what they wanted and they knew that the #1 next year was going to basically be an early 2nd rounder.

They could have offered this years first and the two fifth rounders or this years first, fifth and next years second round. If GB said no, then look for another trade partner.

I know absolutely nothing about the guy but I was pissed when we drafted Kamara and still feel like an idiot for doubting the great Payton.

Game one I bet he is 270 easy without losing any speed. Big body at 6'6".

I bet he could push closer to 280 without losing speed. Can't wait to see what the coaches can do with this kid. Huge potential.

He will be 275 by training camp and hopefully Defensive Player of the Year along with TE Marc Andrews Offensive Rookie of the Year.
