Saints release Coby Fleener – ProFootballTalk

I think it's for the best for both. Concussion looked severe to me (repetitive)

According to many news sources they have already made the decision to cut him post June 1st. His cap hit will be 5 mil instead of 8.2

Those 5 concussions last year didn't help but I'm still surprised considering he was recently paid. Oh well, I guess they decided to cut losses (they are on the hook for at least 8M in Dead Money) and move forward. Too bad it didn't work out. Injuries and inconsistencies will get you cut every time.

Side note - the undrafted guy from WKY (name escapes me) has a shot to make the 53 man roster.

Even if it had worked out we still over paid. Only a small handful of TEs deserve that kind of money and he was never one of them to get that contract. Wish him the best but it was the right move. That 3 mil is worth more than him being on the team.

The Saints are going to be hit with the $3.2 million anyway. They're just taking that portion of the cap hit next year.

Unless he can double as janitor, private jet pilot, manicurist, and wind blame taker (that's the guy who takes the blame when Gail breaks wind), his services are no longer needed.
