Two first round picks and a fifth - lot of pressure on all involved to have immediate outstanding results...

Another reason I don't like Payton's call to spend that kind of draft capital on one player that's not a franchise quarterback...

History tells us it has rarely worked out so far. Let's hope this time is one of those that spells success. :bng:

Time to move on, JP. It's unhealthy to dwell on what might have been. Much better to look forward to what might be ahead.

:D

It was a huge price to pay but defensive line was our biggest weakness. Im still not sold completely on the move but its time to go for it now while we still have the best quarterback in the N.F.L. If we stay healthy I wouldn't trade our roster for any teams in the league.

I still don't see the price as being huge at all. We trade a late 1st rounder from 2018 and what should be a far later 1st in 2019 along with a fifth we really didn't need to move WAY up to get exactly the player we wanted.

A bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush.

Nielson will coach him up and give him the technique to win at the line. We have a great teacher showing a super talented kid what he needs to have to get the fan base super charged. Eventually we won't even care about the cost.

I've been involved with rugby for close to 40 years and I've seen kids with zero athletic ability put it together after a few seasons. I've also see big boys come in and make an impact immediately who become dominant forces early......and others who take awhile to develop but become premier rugby players with some solid coaching, technique development and valuable playing time. Drills are essential to learning but putting it together on the field is what makes it click.

I short I believe Nielson and Young have to be excited about what Davenport can do for the defense with a little training.

I can see him dropping in coverage and bringing a CB/Safety blitz. I would love seeing him step in front of a TE on a quick dump pass and taking it to the house.
