Franchise Intangibles for a winning Organization

Now that the draft day cheers and groans are dying down I'd like to focus on something different. We often talk about the "intangibles" to winning games and often discussions revolve around the makeup of our team (Front Office, Players, Coaches ect.). My question for the fans of this board are what do they think the top Franchise Intangibles are for turning the Saints in the class of the league? I would identify an intangible as anything that is not obviously needed to win (such as player talent or coaching ablity ,ect). Intangibles are things like Fan base, Facilities, Fan/Team relationship, team media image (local or national), player conduct, Star player power projection, scouting, player development, conditioning programs, cheerleaders or anything that is not obvious but might propel us into beyond our current status (bottom tier team).
Is this clear or does it make sense? I really think that if you want to win you've got to walk, talk and think like a winner.
I'd identify:
Player development - invest today for tomorrow
National media image - what a class organization
Facilities- State of the art
Onfield playing conduct - Act like a professional get treated like one.
Star player power projection/image - Admired by friend and foe alike.

There might be such a thing as \"intangibles\". Then again .. there might be some \"magic\" beans out there somewhere too.

Okay, I\'ll give it a shot.

As far as the way YOU have stated what an \"intangible\" is, then ....

The Saints have everything they need to succed as far as stadium, fan base, cheerleaders, media coverage and things like that.

The one thing I really feel that\'s held the Saints back is lack-luster free-agent signings and missed draft picks. And they\'ve also signed some bad-apples on the team. Like Grady Jackson, Albert Connell, and Kyle Turley. It took a while to get rid of the real \"cancers\" and get some high character guys in the Big Easy.

The other thing I think that has really hurt the Saints was the firing of GM Randy Meuller and the promotion of Mickey Loomis. Loomis had no background, from what I understand, as a \"football\" guy.

I don\'t blame the fans or the media or anything like that for the failures of the team. Winning starts at the top. That happens to be Mickey Loomis for the Saints. I think Mickey is getting much better and I think everyone (front office and the coaching staff) are finally getting on the same page.

gumbo-I can site so much research to state that there is a quality beyond aptitude which makes some people great and others mediocre....

as for the question:
-I think that facilities draw players and help keep them healthy..for instance the clippers in the nba are injury ridden-why? mostly due to one of the worst medical staffs in basketball and lack of good training facility/personel. I think also off the feild behavior and activities-you don\'t train you get hurt more easily, you party till 2 every night-it shows in your work...so professionalism is another.

I think a third is strong institutional goals and lastly: player development-kinda goes with facilities but having the staff to teach the game and work with the difficult personalities and egos to integrate them into a team.

I think belief in the system has a lot to do with performance.

We\'ve tried being the Colts, the WCO, and no FB sets. Now, we\'re a running team. AB had to adapt to being a pocket passer, and the WCO. We\'ve been so predictable in certain O situations, that it isn\'t funny anymore. We tried the heavy lunch bunch, then smaller, faster players on D.

The fan base can be a detriment, since as long as the dome is filled, a decent showing won\'t bring needed FO changes.

We have dominant players, but none yet at LB. A position that has been vacant since Haz (a former LB) arrived. We scream about the Spikes and Claibornes being passed over, but for what?
