Strief studied communications I believe.....but I still want a professional who grabs you!

Yes to Strief. No to Garick.

I know he'll never make the Saints ring of honor, yet he's in mine.

And he makes BEER!

The JJ Watt game was probably Strief's worst game, but this is the slo-motion nightmare from LB Ahmad Brooks that really kept him up at night...

wow this is horrible. I saw this from the Terrace, and it was almost as ugly. I cant believe Drew walked away from this. He did. And we won. great game.

All OT's, just like all corners, get beat sometimes, and all they can do is brush themselves, and their QB off, and forget the last play. My only disappointment in Zach's career is that my vision of a big Tackle Eligible TD pass for him never happened. We just had too many other weapons. On a less talented team, he could have been a "Fridge."

on topic. I'm a huge fan of Zach too. And, if anyone tries to rush into the booth, they'll get flattened.

My question is, are we talking Play by Play? Not color?

Play by Play should be an iconic voice, or one who will become one. Maybe Zach could be that. I would have never thought John Madden would even be someone people liked, when he was the Raiders Head Coach, and then BOOM.

It's a testament to Drew's training that he walked away from that hit. Looks like he was hit by a car!!!

Andrew Catalon

Catalon is a little older than we’re looking for, but it’s hard to find young play-by-play voices. A network executive describes his style as being like Ian Eagle, meaning understated with the ability to set up his analysts well.

■ Age: 36
■ Current role: Play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports (NFL, NCAA basketball, golf)
■ Agent: Brian Jacobs, Headline Media Management
■ First broadcasting job: “When I graduated from Syracuse, an SU professor connected me with the news director at WVNY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Burlington, Vt. My first job was as weekend sports anchor.”
■ Most memorable event covered/person interviewed: “Calling the R.J. Hunter game-winning three-pointer in the NCAA tournament as his father and Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter fell off his stool.”
■ Dream job: “I love what I’m doing now and hope to do it for a long time.”

I like Garic but I think Strief is more qualified for play by play. I like it

This is one of the better young play-by-play announcers I've reviewed...

https://static1.squarespace.com/stat...pg?format=300w

Wayne Randazzo is currently the pregame and postgame show host for the New York Mets on WOR Radio, a role he's had since 2015. He joins play-by-play announcer Howie Rose and Josh Lewin and hosts a 30-minute pre-game show before every regular season game and a 30-minute post-game program.

Randazzo joined WOR Radio from CBS Radio Chicago, where he served as a sports anchor and talk show host for WSCR-AM and WBBM-AM.

In addition to his radio background, Wayne has also become a polished play-by-play television broadcaster, thanks to opportunities at ESPN, Big Ten Network, MLB and Sports USA; and as a local broadcaster for the Chicago White Sox, Kane County Cougars and Chicago Sky.

Strief has no broadcasting experience.

I have a theory of who may be the next play-by-play man.

https://hips.hearstapps.com/rover/pr...1508880291.jpg

Scott Walker - formerly of WDSU

My older son is head coach of a USA Swimming team, Elmwood Sharks. His best swimmer is the son of Walker's sister, Sherry. I'm FB friends with Sherry so I always get her news feeds. In a couple of those Scott mentions an exciting new career move that will be announced sometime in the near future and he just resigned from his position with WDSU. He is a two time Emmy winning news and sportscaster. He has also said he will be remaining in New Orleans (actually Metairie).

Don't see Strief doing play-by-play, but this might be an interesting team...

Well, I was close. I found out today that Scott did apply for the position, but Strief beat him and the others out.

Good work, Guido. It sounds like this was actually the more qualified candidate. I love Strief, dont get me wrong, but a play by play guy should be an iconic voice, you can pick out, an AM radio, miles out of range, through interference & static, when youre driving on some interstate.

When did they tell you you didn't make the cut, SkyMike?
