Which drops? Maybe we should have a wait and see approach as it relates to Meredith. If he comes back 100% healthy, he can become a legit #2. For what it's worth, the Eagles won the title with a makeshift WR group (ranked 12th in terms of production) Jeffries, Agoholor, Wallace & TE Ertz.

Saints training camp awaits.

Meredith a WR by default? He was outstanding for the Bears in 2016 and had already been touted as being the #1 receiver for Chicago in 2017 when he went down with the knee injury late in the 2016 season. He sat out all of 2017 and have had a full 20 months to recover come training camp. The Bears thought they could sneak him by on the lower level RFA tag to save a million or so in cap. They had hoped other teams would have been spooked by the earlier injury. The Saints didn't fall for it and offered him a deal the Bears couldn't match. Meredith has the size (6'4") and the route running ability to be a solid #1 WR on several NFL squads. He has excellent hands and is extremely intelligent. He can work out of the slot or outside. He has been working with Brees in San Diego this summer and should be full go.

Re: I am going to stay positive this year

I watched him all of 2016. He was WR1 by default due to injuries to better WRs. He did well but the team was also awful. I do hope it works out but go watch his highlights and tell me if it looks like he was taking on strong coverage. One of his TD's was one of those fluke hail mary bounces.

I'm just not crowning him anything until the final roster. Too much competition left to say otherwise.

That's fair, but he wasnt brought here to be a number 1, and he's not likely to draw a lot of attention in terms of coverage here either. We also have the best WR's coach in the league in my opinion, the same guy who was coaching Cam in 2016. I don't expect pro bowl production, but I expect he will make an impact.

Curious here. Would you have rather kept Willie Snead aka Ghost? Or maybe pay Sammy Watkins (who was mediocre on a good 2017 Rams team) ridiculous coin? I've said this several times but if Meredith comes back 100%, he is worth more than what the Saints paid for him. If it doesn't work out ... no biggie. The Saints can move him (cut) after a year. Let's face it, Meredith has a huge amount of upside. I personally believe this guy will play well in New Orleans.

Training camp can't get here quick enough.

It was a good move, not questioning that at all. We stole him from Chicago basically. I do believe though the competition will be intense. He could get buried on the depth chart which, is what happened to him in Chicago until they had a string of injuries. He may be gold or, he may be a good insurance policy.

I'm right there with you. In fact, I think he can take some of the pressure off Thomas. Pick your poison is what I'm expecting.
