Can I finally vent about

Chase Lyman. What a waste. And when Roydell Williams was mentioned as a better option, there was a playing hometown favorites sentiment. First practice? That is unreal and has to be some kinda record right? Yikes. Also read this: Saints notebook

Quote:

TOUGH BROWN: Chase Lyman is not the only Saints draft pick with a pre-existing knee condition. First-round draft pick Jammal Brown has a chronic condition in his left knee that needs constant maintenance. Brown missed his freshman season at Oklahoma because of a sprain in the joint. Several teams red-flagged Brown as a prospect because of it. Saints officials are aware of the condition but are confident it will not be a factor. Even with the knee problem, Brown didn't miss a game or practice in his final three seasons at Oklahoma.
I am certainly glad he has played through it the past 3 years at OU, but chronic knee condition is not what I wanna hear for any Saints player(see Grant, Cie).

I thought the thing about Lyman was a joke. I mean, it couldn't possibly happen this way after the fans have pretty much gone ballistic over drafting an injury prone WR, could it? Apparently it can.

When is Mickey going to learn? I guess watching Grant go to injury reserve hasn't been enough of a warning about the ills of drafting injury prone players.

The Brown news has me worried too. I mean, the guy was a stud for three years after this came up, but then he wasn't playing NFL ball was he?

You never know. One leg whip or chop and who knows???

It has me a little worried. You guys think that the Lyman thing is why three of our scouts "left"?

saintswhodi 05-16-2005 10:06 AM

They were probably tired of not being listened to. From what I read, they were offered more to stay, but chose to leave anyway. Some of our recent picks have been head scratchers, and it may have been through no fault of the scouts. If your opinion isn't respected, then basically your job isn;t being respected and they chose to move on. But the Brown thing has me worried too. *Fingers crossed*

Didn't know that they were offered more to stay.

What does that tell you about Loomis? M-I-C-K-E-Y..... m-o-u-s-eeeeeee!!!! (just for SF)

My bad Who. False info. Here's the story:

Quote:

TURNOVER IN SCOUTING DEPARTMENT: It should be noted that area scouts Tim Heffelfinger (Patriots), Mark Sadowski (Bears) and Andy Weidl (Ravens) all were extended two-year contracts to stay with the Saints and chose to leave for better offers. Five of the club's nine pro and college scouts have left or been fired since the end of the season.
They had better offers(don't know if this means more money or better teams or a better job position), but were offered extensions here that they turned down. But two others are gone and I couldn't find anything on it. Still seems like a lot of turnover in the scouting department and in the case of a couple, not much love lost since they turned down extensions.

If we were going to gamble with the fourth pick we should have gone with Antajj Hawthorne from Wisconsin. At least we would have filled a need at DT. If you don't know, he was considered a first round pick until he tested positive for marijuana at the combine.

i agree....chase is just another wasted pick to me......like cie grant........

i wish i had saw this post before my dumb one but you are right on bro. it is a wasted pick. the best thing to me or the funniest is that it is xactly what he has had problems with. when a player has constant kneee problems they are done playing. look at davis the former great rb of denver. cdonstant knee problems should never be drafted. now im not going to take that stance with brown because he wasnt hurt every year like lyman. to be ho9nest im not even worried about brown. if you have severe knee problems you dont play through that. so im not worried about him at all. now that probally means he will be out for the season lol. lyman i just scratch my head on
