Joe Horn Q & A

Horn: I'm always excited to play ball

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Horn finished the 2004 season with career highs in yards (1,399) and touchdowns (11) while equaling his career best in receptions (94), but his team finished short of the playoffs for the fourth straight season. While in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for the EA SPORTS NFL Quarterback Challenge, Horn spoke to NFL.com about his new contract, his outlook for next season and his offseason activities.

You just signed a contract extension with the Saints. Was that important to you to get done?

Horn: I wanted to retire a New Orleans Saint. I'm glad that's done. I figured they would get it done because I know how important it is for me to be there and I know how important it is for them to want me there. So, it was a matter of time.

What have you been up to this offseason?

Horn: I've been in New Orleans and Mississippi. Just golfing. Basically that's all I do -- golf and take my kids to school. I've also been trying to look over my record company. I just started it about a year ago. For Life Miracle Records, I'm getting it off the ground. It's a gospel record company. The first album is dropping June 14 -- The Evereadys. It's a gospel quartet.

Have you been into gospel music for a while?

Horn: I have been into it. I like listening to gospel music. So once I had the financial means to start a record company and see what it was all about and see how much it is demanded out in society by Christians or whoever who love gospel music, quartet music, that's when I started the company.

Are you looking forward to your minicamp (June 10-12)?

Horn: I'm always excited to play ball.

What do you see for the Saints next season?

Horn: For me, myself, I see us winning every football game. But obviously everybody's going on what we did the last four games. That's cool; I'm with that. I'm with whatever wins us a Super Bowl. I just want every guy on the football team to have the same heart and the same desire to want to win. So we'll see in a couple of weeks and a couple of months how they're feeling.

Good find Whodi.

Didn't Horn predict 16-0 last year too?

RE: Joe Horn Q & A

..Horn may have a really big mouth, and may be a greedy bastard, but you can't question his desire...

..in any sport you have to believe you can and are going to win... especially football, since it hurts so much to play it, more so than most sports... if you have doubts, once you start getting hit and you feel it, it's all over upstairs and more likely than not it's all over on the field too...

I wasn't criticizing; I merely recall that he predicted 16-0 last year.

Too short of an article on NFL.com that was for a headliner. I wish he made that interview longer.

Sweet. I haven't been "negative" in several hours...

BTW I meant I wasn't criticizing Horn (I would never criticize you TR)!
