Saints still searching for best way to use linebackers

Still searching?? What’s that mean?

I could’ve sworn I remember them saying they don’t bring in players without envisioning how they’ll fit. If you’re searching for a way to use all these pieces, someone didn’t do their homework!

They've got to get this straight! Linebacker play is essential to stopping the run. Yes I know D line is important too, but smart athletic linebackers can read a play and get to the gap quickly. Once they can get that under control, the safeties don't have to come up to stop the run and can get back to playing the outfield.

I’m just floored we brought in Davis who was a hell of a MLB and aren’t playing him there. What’s the point.

I wonder what we use the training camps and preseason for?!?!

Just imagine the guy might end up being remembered as having squandered a decade worth of opportunities with the best QB to play. At least that's how I would remember him right now when I'm looking back on this period... Incredible

The same thing that every other team uses them for ... evaluating the bottom few players on the 53 and practice squad. Because of the high dollar investment into and the year round training of the top 30 or so players they get very little real action anymore. The reduced practice time in pads created by the last CBA reduces that time even more. They were talking about his subject last week on NFL Radio. They said that September is the new "preseason" these days and teams won't really know what they have until three to four weeks have passed.
