Because it's a performance enhancer for some players. There are many supplements on the market that are legal to buy and use by the public that league athletes in many sports cannot use. For some, Marijuana enhances pain management, coordination of some skills, etc. for others, not so much.

But they can take a Lortab and Vicodin to deal with things. I’m not buying it.

Agreed. I'd call Dez before him. And I'm not sure I'd call Dez.

Re: Josh Gordon

We don’t need Josh Gordon... We just need to get Cameron Meredith and Tre’Quan Smith going.

No I meant there's more to this story. They're being nice and not making his issues public.

Re: Josh Gordon

Gordon's first two NFL seasons were highly productive; in 2013, his second season, he led all players in receiving yards and was a first-team All-Pro selection. In his NFL career, Gordon has been suspended multiple times for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He was indefinitely suspended by the league for his fourth violation during the 2014 season, being unable to play for the rest of that season, along with the entirety of the next two seasons. Following a lengthy rehabilitation period, he was reinstated midway through the 2017 season. Wiki

Re: Josh Gordon

Once Ingram is back we will have more balance. Other receivers will get chances. I think Smith emerges but it needs to happen quick

Why do you think rules should be changed because something MIGHT become legal? The NFL is full of hypocrisy and inconsistent rule enforcement, but this is one thing I won't disagree with them on. The law is what it is, right now, and so there is a policy against smoking weed, and he continually breaks that rule.

If you have such an addiction to something, that you can't cut it out to keep a job that pays you millions of dollars, then you have a serious problem. It's not just a harmless recreational thing, at that point. Drinking IS legal, but if you are abusing alcohol, you have a problem.

I am of the opinion that marijuana is far less harmful than alcohol. But I don't think it is something that should be used irresponsibly. Ricky Williams knew the rules, and so he just left the country to pursue whatever weird stuff he was/is into, where he could smoke as much as he wanted.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
