Saints release Mike Gillislee, add Mark Ingram to the 53-man roster

Mark Ingram is officially back on the roster.

The Saints cut running back Mike Gillislee to free up a spot for Ingram, who was suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

The Saints added Gillislee to help fill the void while Ingram was out prior to the start of the season. He carried the ball 16 times during the first four weeks and gained 43 yards (2.7 yards per carry).

New Orleans received a roster exemption for Ingram when he came off suspension on Monday. The team had seven days to add him to the active roster.

The veteran running back is expected to make his debut Monday night against the Washington Redskins.

Anyone know much about this "Ingram" guy? Is he any good and why cut such a proven commodity such as Gillislee?

Finally this guy get cut... should have been gone when his first carry resulted in the other team getting a TD.

I feel bad for Meredith. All eyes will be on him in the blocking dept. He got a pass for a while but it's now show time.

I don't think Ingram is going to need any blockers.

He is splaying for a new contract, so we shall see.

Ingram will be on a mission. He has 12 games to get 734 yards and become our all-time leading rusher.
