I thought Mueller was a good GM. I wish we would have kept the guy around. He made some mistakes and he was undeservingly fired. I seriously doubt that the aquisition of Mueller is going to make Miami a contender this year. And Ricky.....please, the Dolphins would have been smarter to leave the doper in Africa or South America or where ever he was. Good luck with Ricky Miami! LOL

I doubt that the Dolphins will be great any time soon. That said, Mueller and Saban together seems like a winning strategy to me - but it's really way too early to tell. How do you think Ricky will love being back with the GM who traded him away? LOL

Mueller and Saban does sound like a good combo. I don't understand why Saban is willing to take Ricky back. Why? They just drafted a good young running back, now Saban wants Ricky? I'm sorry, but Ricky is creepy. Williams totally backstabbed his team and bailed on them. Saban should be telling the doper to go somewhere else. Can someone please tell me what Saban is thinking here?

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins are coming under fire from the Fritz Pollard Alliance about how they hired new general manager Randy Mueller. The alliance, which is an advocacy group pushing for more head coaching and front-office opportunities for minorities, is unhappy the Dolphins hired Mueller Monday, June 6, without interviewing any other candidates in the 72 hours after Rick Spielman resigned. The Dolphins apparently satisfied the league with how they handled the hiring. The Dolphins cited the fact they interviewed two minority candidates (Jerry Reese and Paul Warfield) in January 2004 for the general manager position that ultimately went to Spielman. Alliance spokesman John Wooten said the alliance submitted a list of three potential minority interview candidates to head coach Nick Saban when it appeared Spielman was on his way out. According to Wooten, Saban didn't return the alliance's calls or try arranging to speak with any of the three recommended candidates.

This sort of complaint is so tiring. I completely understand and agree that minority hiring should be at a minimum monitored so that no group is simply being excluded, but what business is it of some outside org to question a move like this? The way I understand it Mueller was their first choice and they never pursued anyone else. What's wrong with that?
