Should Saints start wearing wristbands?

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/3675092

Using wristbands enables teams to call plays more expeditiously. They can be especially beneficial to teams such as the Saints, who have wordy offenses. A longer play call can be 15 words. In order to get a play in, the offensive coordinator would have to speak those 15 words to the signal-caller on the sideline. The signal-caller would have to speak those 15 words to the quarterback. And the quarterback would have to speak those 15 words to his teammates.

When Delhomme looks at his arm, he sees about 700 possibilities. (Bob Leverone / The Sporting News)

"It's hard to get it from the coordinator to the signal-caller to the quarterback to all the players, and the burden is all on the quarterback," says Saints coach Jim Haslett, who is experimenting with wristbands this offseason. "We've had problems the last couple years getting plays in."

700 possibilities!!!! It's hard enough for Brooks to think of, let alone execute one. To complicated for Brooks.

No I think the freakin' problem was the damn OC. Who didn't send in a play right away. Flipping charts ect looking for a play to run...

I agree Euph, I would always watch the games on TV and see the damn OC there flipping the card back and forth scratching his head and picking his wedgies. I don't think wristbands could hurt, but neither could having a competent OC or an intelligent QB.

If an arm band will improve the offensive efficiency, then do it. I just want to see this talented group put up some numbers that really count (not turn overs or lack of TD production in the 1st Quarter).

So what was all the noise about simplifying the playbook all offseason?

I think the problem was boothe McCarthy and Brooks. McCarthy's inability to get the play in quickly, and Brooks' inability to think and act quickly. If this makes things quicker, Hell yea we need to do it.

no don't put this on brooks... all he can do is stand there and wait for the freakin play already. How many times did you see brooks stand off to the side waiting for the play. You have to get him the play and let him line up the O and read the D better. When you have a problem with the O you should look at who's running the ship... after all you don't blame the guy swabbing the deck if the capt runs the ship aground.
