NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints believe that standout defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins tore his Achilles tendon on Sunday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The news was first reported by the NFL Network after Rankins was carted off the field in the first quarter of New Orleans' 20-14 divisional-round playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Rankins has an MRI scheduled for Monday to confirm the diagnosis, the source said.

Oh geez. They kept saying ankle injury during the telecast. Hoping they are wrong about Achilles but fearing the worst now.

Major loss but the Saints have quality DEPTH on the D line. Saints can still get this done. David O and T Davison are no slouches.
