Saints think star DT Sheldon Rankins tore Achilles tendon

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints believe that standout defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins tore his Achilles tendon on Sunday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The news was first reported by the NFL Network after Rankins was carted off the field in the first quarter of New Orleans' 20-14 divisional-round playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Rankins has an MRI scheduled for Monday to confirm the diagnosis, the source said.

Absolutely awful. Feel terrible for him. That’s going to be a major loss for us.

And at this point of the season, Rankins will likely be lost for most, if not all, of the 2019 season...

Onyemata, time to step up - hope that Mitchell Loewen move doesn't bite us in the arse...

Oh geez. They kept saying ankle injury during the telecast. Hoping they are wrong about Achilles but fearing the worst now.

Major loss but the Saints have quality DEPTH on the D line. Saints can still get this done. David O and T Davison are no slouches.
