Here are the names of a few guys that wouldn't currently be starting in the NFL if teams actually used this kind of logic:

Tom Brady
Ben Roethlisberger
Jake Delhomme
Marc Bulger
AARON BROOKS
Kurt Warner never would have started for the Rams

I don't think A-Mac can beat Brooks out for the starting spot. I would be absolutely shocked if that happened. However, by mid-to-late season, I think A-Mac could start and play just as well now as AB did in 2000.

Too bad it won't happen :P ... unless we go into rebuild mode. But hey... things happen. If he gets on the field this year and performs well, I'll be elated. If he doesn't, I wouldn't be the least surprised.

How many of those guys you named have records of playing less than a year of college and one year of arena football?

Plus, besides AB, the rest of the guys you named work off of mechanics, precision and intelligence. A-Mac is not that type of quarterback. Even Vick didn't have a great first year. I just don't think athletic quarterbacks come in and are immediatley able to start. Brooks did it, true, but that might have something to do with his inconsistency now, lack of development.

just a thought

1. A-Mac is the most talented guy on the team at QB right now. Not best player (at present), but most talented.

2. A-Mac will probably be the second best QB on the team by August. Did you watch Bouman play last offseason? It was like someone combined John Fourcade's attitude with Danny Worthless' ability. The dude sucks. I could start over him.

3. At some point, AB will get hurt and this guy will play. Maybe not in 2005, but be prepared.

A-Mac maybe another success story. Or he could be a ryan leaf story. I would love to see Mcpherson on the field. But probly wont happen. Hopefully Nawlins will keep this guy and not trade him like Jake. A-Mac is the future.

Here is another question. Will A- Mac be starting next season?

He can't be a Ryan Leaf story as he was selected in the FIFTH ROUND and not second overall in the FIRST ROUND. He can bust right out of here and not be on that level. Our Ryan Leaf is Jonathan Suckivan.
