People use the word 'potential' thinking the meaning of that word is - vet, proven vet or Super Bowl Winner. Be skeptical of the word potential... it could come back to bite ya. While the word sure could end up being any of the above but also could end up being a Ryan Leaf. Potential is maybe the wrong word to use, maybe RAW TALENT. He is a gifted athlete, needs to be more polished, needs to learn the pro game, needs to learn the speed, needs to learn new routes, needs to know WR tendencies, needs to learn defenses, needs to stay out of trouble, needs to learn play book, needs to learn how to pass... there is so much this KID needs to learn and to hype him up now is setting people up for failure, its already happeneing to Stallworth.

The only reason AMac was a 5th rounder was because of off the field issues. If Alex Smith can start for the lowly 49er's this year then AMac can start for the Saints. I can bet that we would all agree he is the better athlete and has had a year of Arena ball to get ready for the job. This is not Drew Henson coming from baseball not having played in 3 years. This kid is a baller and I fully expect for him to bump Bouman to #3 and get Klingsbury knocked to Europe.

Good point. If A-Mac was in Frisco, anyone think he wouldn't be the week 1 starter? Frankly, I think A-Mac might have the most POTENTIAL (Euph) of any QB in this year's draft. Do you guys feel that there were really QBs who were that much more talented that Adrian in the draft this year?

As every scout said, the guy would probably have been a first rounder had he stayed in school and not had the problems. I don't doubt that those problems could continue to hound this kid... but assume for a second that they're behind him - is there any reason he cannot develop quickly and play very well at this level?

I don't think there's a reason that he can't develop quickly enough to start, I just think it's unlikely - even if he were in SanFran. The 49ers have a couple of guys who have starting experience, but they're young and the team isn't likely to be very good. That would mean McPherson would have a chance during the year, but not by week 1.

For the Saints, I'd expect that things would have to go very wrong for him to start at some point.

I wouldn't mind if he proves me wrong though!

I agree Scotty. I don't think that the guy is a savior or will be a starter this year. But I also think the attitude that the guy is essentially a talentless arena league hack is way off base.

You mean he's not? I am getting rid of this avatar. Anybody got an Andy Kelley?

... anyway, this is the year that Brooks puts it all together...

not every scout... I love people try any way the can to add to hype. Some had him going in 2-3 rounds. That still doesn't mean he can't start. People need to look at this realistically than saying he is the savior going to start and this and that... when in reality he's a rookie QB at best. I very much like this guy and think in a year or two or hope he will end up being the Starter but in the mean time chill. This is the time of year when the clouds come rolling in and start raining hype. Wait to see the 16-0 hype
