I used to think so too, but last year just made me cringe. Maybe the old Fred will be back this year. I hope anyway.

yeah... this is great news, plus shows that his heart is in the right place. I mean show that ya want new contract but also show the team and fans you're here to play.

I read somewhere he didn't practice. He has the heart to show up but not practice? Or was it maybe more driven by fines?? Hmm

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up at the beginning of the season.

no it was McKenzie who was there and not working out, hamstring bothering him.

i thought craft had problems at the beginning of last season but towards the end of the season he started to come on. but i like that brown is in and hope that MM is back soon. man i am starting to feel it for this year. im probably a fool

This site's article on mini-camp said craft and thomas were the only two to practice.
Quote:

The day began with cornerback Fahkir Brown reporting to the Saints' mandatory mini-camp which is the only mandatory practice of the off-season. General Manager Mickey Loomis has said repeatedly that he will not negotiate with players who hold out from team business. Brown’s appearance says that he’s come to make a deal. Brown, projected as a starter, is the lowest paid of the cornerbacks. Although Brown was present at the mini-camp, he didn’t participate. Cornerback Mike McKenzie also did not practice, so Cornerbacks Fred Thomas and Jason Craft took most of the reps.

Craft looked the sharpest of the cornerbacks. On one play he broke on a ball thrown on a simple out pattern and intercepted the Aaron Brooks pass.

It may be nothing, but that made me think he was only there bc he would get fined. I've heard him speak otherwise, so hopefully it's nothing.

Spkb, if you are a fool than so am I. I really feel good about this year. Brown shamed himself a little, but I'm glad he is back. He really did a good job towards the end of last season. I hope he isen't behind because he missed some voluntary workouts. I'm not totally sold on Brown yet, though. He played well, but I would like to see him continue playing like he did late last season and secure the #2 corner again. If not, we always have Thomas and Craft. I hope the D can stand up and at least be a contender this year. Say it how you want to, but there is no way we are going to get worse. With the addition of D. Smith, having MM in all season, and the (hopefully) continued improvements of Brown, Buckwoldt, Watson and our DE's should at least give some Offenses some trouble. Fincher and Bullocks are making strides and give us a little more depth and some different looks. Heres to hoping this is a good year Spkb.

what did I say... keep your eye on Craft
