Hey Big Guy,

I got to start spending some time over here. Chad was just released last week from the Redskins. Johnny is getting up there, although he's still decent. I've never thought of J.Morton as an impact receiver, and to be honest, I wouldn't get too excited if he were to sign with the Saints. Personally, I would be a bit more excited if Gardner from the Skins became available, but Morton is no better, if not a downgrade from Pathon. I say, let Devery or Talman Gardner start earning their money.

I'm all for signing Morton, simply because he would make this team better. He could be the 3a and Devery the 3b, they can do different things. Morton has good hands and something left in the tank.
If he wants to be payed according to his stats the last two years or if he wants a shot at the number 2 receiver spot it's not going to happen.

I agree with ScottBallot. We don't need to pile up a bunch of guys we aren't really looking for at WR. It sounds like what we've done at the LB spot, with the exception of course of having stud WR starters.

I would kill to get Gardener, but I am sure he is too expensive. If we had Horn, Stallworth and Gardener we might have the best starting three in football.

Kind of look at it as if our WR's are role players. Horn possesion type, Stallworth the speedster, 3rd saftey net. Then if you lose one of them I don't see Stallworth filling the shoes of Horn, different type of WR, you can say thats what Stallworth was draft for but I disagree with that theory.

Haha mayoj... if only Stallworth and Gardner were more established. I'd take Harrison, Wayne, and Stokley anyday. Moss, Porter, and Curry also looks like a better combination. Boldin, Fitzgerald, and Johnson doesn't look too bad either.

I think Stallworth can handle Horn's spot if he should get injured. I'm more worried about Henderson and his hands filling in for Stallworth's slot. If you really think about it, Pathon was a pretty valuable piece to our receiving corps. And from what we've been hearing in camp, Henderson just isn't there yet. I'm not saying he won't get to that level, but it wouldn't hurt to bring in a vet as an insurance policy. Unless... one of our "potential" guys decide to step up to the plate. Seriously, Talman has good size and 4.4 speed... what the heck is keeping him back goodness. Peter Warrick has put up some numbers... so has Coles/Boldin... :|

papz, I totally agree. It was kind of a stupid comment, but I think under the same QB Horn, Stallworth and Gardener could equal those other guys production. The moss trio makes me nervous; I just think something wil break down with that. The boldin trio has the most potential. Probably by the time Stallworth and Gardener fully developed, Horn would be on the decline so it will not be realized.

I did like Pathon a lot. He dropped some last year, but everyone did. On third downs though, you knew Pathon was threat everytime.

I don't like the bad wrap Stallworth is getting. I think he had a good year last year despite his injuries. His injuries last year didn't bother me as much bc most of his problems were with his broken fingers. It's pretty hard to catch balls like that and he came through with my respect. He is going to have a good season.

So, I would still say Horn, Stallworth, Gardener over all but Harrison trio. Hard to factor in the QB factor on that one. Who knows. I think game one will show Horn, Stallworth, Poole or combo Poole and Henderson at #3.

I think the real problem we have had with the 3wr spot is we do have some good WRs... its which one is it who is going to step up and do it. Last year I went to camp and loved Nathon Black. Talman I hope stips up... I have been keeping an eye on him but he hasn't impressed! Dropped passes and failing to get open seems to be his down falls up to this point. I don't think its time to part ways with him yet, could still develop.

I don't think Stallworth is getting a bad rep. I think some do have high expectations of him and he really isn't the number 1 wr. He shouldn't be counted on as the number one guy... but if you put him in at 2 or 3. In a check off system, you always have to keep an eye on him... and I think that was the Saints problem offensively, ther was no checking off. Brooks just looked for the open guy who was open the most it seemed. Not Brooks fault... but under Sheppard, lots more play action and checking off. You look for the first route, its not there you to the second then third then run!!! LOL.

I think it's going to be Horn, Stallworth, and Poole too. Poole does have better hands and route running compared to Henderson at this point. But as far as "potential" again, (I'm really starting to hate that word) it's obvious that Devery and Talman have the edge on that... if that even counts for anything anymore.

I think its to close to call when it comes to potential...
