Re: NFLNew Orleans Saints expected to re-sign Teddy Bridgewater

I had high hopes for Teddy when he first came in the building, and I think the jury is still sorta out on him. But that Panthers game at the end of the season was hot garbage, and it wasn't just Teddy. NOBODY in a Saints starting uniform wanted to be on the field for that game, it was terrible on both sides of the ball, terrible game planning, poor coaching, poor playing, but I don't think that ONE game was really representative of what this team would be, post-Brees, if Teddy were to take over for real. It was an eyesore of a game, it was a miserable showing, but I think there were many things going on behind the scenes in that game, that made it much worse than a truly representative sample of what a Brees-less Saints with Bridgewater under center in the regular season would really be like. Everything about that game was whack, from the very start. Throw out the tape and burn it.

At least we will get a full preseason to see what he’s got.
I so badly want to wish Taysom into a starting QB. Dude has heart and a mean streak. Probably won’t happen but I love the guy.

Re: NFLNew Orleans Saints expected to re-sign Teddy Bridgewater

IDK ...

Coach Sean Payton/Joe Lombardi had a full year to work with Teddy. They've seen him every day in practice, meetings, etc. Kind of hard to slam the guy based off a couple of games late in the year. IIRC we rested Kamara, rested a bunch of O lineman, then Andrus got hurt. We had two tackles off the street protecting TB blindside while he was running for his life. And despite that, he wasn't garbage.

IMO he's better than Chase Daniel ever was & 2M more than Case Keenum.

I won't pretend to know what goes on behind closed doors but I think the HC and his staff have a lot more insight & knowledge about all aspects of the decision than any of us do.

Re: NFLNew Orleans Saints expected to re-sign Teddy Bridgewater

Don't but into the apologist reasons for Bridgewater as the Carolina Rookie QB outplayed him and was not surrounded with talent either; McCaffrey was pulled early - Bridgewater still had Mike Thomas...

Plus, Bridgewater's only NFL success came as a play-action QB with a bell-cow RB in a younger, peaked Adrian Peterson; and then there's his inability to stay healthy...

Without Brees, we're not winning a Superbowl, but a backup QB to spell Brees a game, maybe two is necessary, but doesn't have to be as expensive as Bridgewater either, allowing money for other positions...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Credit coach Payton for the Chopper style start in week 16, subsequent crash and burn. Now Saints can keep him on the cheap for development.

Sean has been paying attention to the Pats and Belichick.

Genius .

Teddy was a probowler before he got hurt. Hes got alot of potential and if sean wants him to stay he must have something that caught his eyes as well. Will he be drew of course not but sean will re-do the play book to play on teddys strengths just like he did with drew and alvin.
