We have a decision to make on Eli Apple too. His 5th year option will cost roughly $14 million for the 2020 season. Obviously we’re not going to pay him that and I don’t think we work out a long-term deal either with all the great players we have to pay in the near future.

Injuries aside, this was a very good draft pick by the Saints and Team Jeff Ireland. |

It should encourage him to work even harder in his rehab...
Option years are not fully guaranteed, however; if he's injured before the option year gets underway, the franchise may void the option... Still, it's a bargain for a veteran defensive tackle - if he can play the entire season... |

I hope that he recovers nicely and signs another reasonable contract with the Saints. He was coming along and progressing very well.
