We have a decision to make on Eli Apple too. His 5th year option will cost roughly $14 million for the 2020 season. Obviously we’re not going to pay him that and I don’t think we work out a long-term deal either with all the great players we have to pay in the near future.

Even better news is that Mr. Rankins is out of his boot.

Injuries aside, this was a very good draft pick by the Saints and Team Jeff Ireland.

It should encourage him to work even harder in his rehab...

Option years are not fully guaranteed, however; if he's injured before the option year gets underway, the franchise may void the option...

Still, it's a bargain for a veteran defensive tackle - if he can play the entire season...

I hope that he recovers nicely and signs another reasonable contract with the Saints. He was coming along and progressing very well.
