Saints New Center Erik McCoy proposes to girlfriend following NFL draft pick

The New Orleans Saints drafted Texas A&M center Erik McCoy with the 48th overall pick in the NFL Draft on Friday night (April 26).

On Saturday, he proposed to his girlfriend.

The Saints rookie popped the question to Bianca Soliz at a party in front of family and friends, according to a report from KLTV.com.

I wonder if Erik starts training camp @ guard, then slowly transitions to center?

FWIW - At this level, he knows the position but needs to learn the playbook and needs to gain the confidence and familiarity of the entire line as the center is the cornerstone. He will also be replacing the leader of our O-Line... Getting some XP at both Guard positions during camp will help his familiarity with every piece of that O-Line and get some elbow to elbow time across the entire front.

As a backup you want him as versatile as possible and our Guards go down more than our Centers..

Sean Payton thinks he's the starting center from what I understand. He'll probably win the job in camp. On a side note.....my condolences on his engagement.

Payton has said he likes his players to have versatility and McCoy was no exception - but Payton has made it clear that he's the Center, but he'll have to earn it from Nick Easton - wink, wink...

My only question for Payton is that why did Easton not have to earn the job from Cam Tom or Will Clapp?!? Or are they already moving on to another position? roster?

I just hope for a healthy year out of the top 5. Unless the Saints strike gold with the UDFA's and camp invitees, the drop off is huge. Tom or Clapp won't make the squad if McCoy is healthy.

I hope so, I low key watched him on specific plays he was in last year and he was on his back the majority of the time.
