Manning, Brady, Brees and Rodgers by year

FP is having their usual fun during the off season with running cool stat graphs. This one I thought I'd share with you all.

Manning, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers, by Year

Despite rarely ever getting the respect in the media, Brees is right there with Brady for most of his career in these graphics. As one comment pointed out, drop Brees' first two seasons and he and Brady are tied with an identical ANY/A of 7.3. Drop their best seasons and again, they both tie at ANY/A of 7.1

The most interesting thing I noticed in these graphs is just how hard Rodgers falls in decline and how short his peak was. Judging by the last graphic where everyone's best seasons are lumped together from the beginning, Rodgers only ranks better than Brees in one single season, and debatable for the second one where he's slightly above. Every other season, Brees is ahead of him. Manning has the longest peak of dominance while Rodgers has the shortest.

From a Packers fan who commented -

Quote:

I say this as a huge Packers fan, but I sometimes wonder if 20 years from now newer fans will wonder why we thought Aaron Rodgers was as good as (or even better than) the other three that he's often grouped in with. His peak was absolutely dominant, but it was incredibly short relative to the others. If his career finishes with more seasons like we've seen in the last 4 or so, he's going to have a very strange career.
