No, that stretch limousine parked in front of Buffalo Road wings restaurant in Rocky Mount Wednesday wasn't hauling off a record order of hot wings. The Louisiana-plated limo was hauling Joe Horn, the all-pro wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints.

Horn can certainly afford to ride in style, after signing a six-year contract extension worth about $42 million in May. But he did another kind of signing Thursday, passing out more than 150 autographs to Rocky Mount area children at the Sunset Ave. eatery.

RMT: What exactly brings you here?

JH: My family reunion I'm having in Roanoke Rapids. And I'm having a gospel show Saturday at 3 o'clock for the community at Weldon. It's Saturday at Weldon High School.

RMT: What is your North Carolina connection?

JH: I lived for about seven or eight years in the Weldon Projects Housing authority. I went to Weldon Elementary at the time, before they redid it. So I have some roots in Weldon. So I'm coming to give back. I'm charging $10 to get in. These are groups you usually have to pay $25 to see. I'm just trying to let the community come enjoy themselves on Saturday, and I'm doing autographs and going back to the projects.

RMT: On a personal level, for you, you've got a new six-year deal. How good is it to be you right now?

JH: I was rich five years ago, so it really wasn't a big deal. It just showed me that the Saints wanted me to be there for life, they wanted me to be there and retire a Saint. That was the most important part. It really wasn't the six-year deal, because I had signed a five-year, $25 million contract before that. People see six years and think that's the main point for me being in New Orleans. That was more important to me, because they made me a Saint for life.

RMT: Speaking of contracts, everybody wants to know about Terrell Owens' contract situation. What's your stance on that?

JH: Terrell should get $200 million and $50 million up front. Right now.

RMT: You're going to be forever linked to Terrell because of a certain cell-phone celebration you did.

JH: Everybody does celebrations. People link me to Terrell Owens. But I pulled out the cell phone because I told my kids I was going to call them that night. That's why I did it. I don't know why Terrell Owens (does what he does) when he gets into the endzone, but I know why Joe Horn did it. But I hope he gets a new contract.

RMT: Go ahead, then, and list your top five receivers in the league.

JH: I'm No. 1, of course. ÃƒÂƒÃ¢Â€Â° Hold on, let me rewind that. Jerry Rice is No. 1, myself would be No. 2. I like Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss - that's four - and then it might be T.O.

RMT: Do you play any fantasy football yourself?

JH: No, I play a lot of golf.

RMT: How about your coaches?

JH: I haven't found that out yet, but they may.

RMT: Well, they've got a lot of information a lot of people would want to know.

JH: I wouldn't put it past them. So tell them to keep playing me, because you never know.

RMT: Who would you draft first in '05, then?

JH: Well, you've got to draft Joe Horn first.

RMT: One more thing. (Tuesday) night was the MLB All-Star Game. You've made it to the Pro Bowl in four of your last five years. What do you think is harder - to hit a baseball off of Roger Clemens or to take a hit from Ray Lewis across the middle?

JH: I think it would be more difficult taking the hit from Ray Lewis, because once you take that hit, you might be coughing up blood for the next two weeks. If you hit a Roger Clemens baseball, you're either going to get out or hit a home run or get on base.

RMT: How would you celebrate if you hit a home run off of Roger Clemens?

JH: I would probably run all the way to third base. Then, halfway home, I'd start shaking, and doing something. But I'd get tired if I started at first base, because it's a long run.

RMT: What, no cell phone?

way about Deuce, McKenzie and Bentley!
