Week 3 - Seahawks

As I hear it, the team is not going back to New Orleans this week and will be staying on the West Coast. Drew is staying in LA today to see a hand specialist.

This week brings both problems and opportunity.

On the down side, in all likely hood Drew will not play against the Seahawks, so some QB will get an opportunity to write his future. A lot of work will need to be done as I am assuming each QB has a particular game plan.

On the upside, everything Seattle was expecting to study just became obsolete or at the least they have 3 times the homework this week as who will start is theoretically an unknown at this point.

As Saints fans we are in a very unique situation, one that we have not seen in many years, what will our offense look like this week?

Re: Week 3 - Seahawks

Thanks for this post.

Gotta somewhat digest the Rams debacle, clean up a lot of areas (specifically the O line) and move on to Seattle. They won't feel sorry for us on Sunday.

I thought DEFENSIVELY, we did a lot of good (held Rams under 4 ypc). Build on that...

You can bet Sean isn't thinking about any calls that were made yesterday, he is focused on Drew's hand and Week 3 QB/game planning.

I see this week as a proverbial half time for Sean Payton... Does he go into Seattle and execute a game-plan that no one on the face of this earth would expect?

For me this is a much more interesting discussion, the possibilities are endless.

Brees goes down and the refs cost the Saints 7 points against a top NFL team on the road and the game was close until the end. I expect a solid effort against the Seahawks.

Yes but what does that effort look like?

TB running Drew's offense?
Lots of Kamara?
Do you run heavy and give TB time to catch up?

When your Hall of Fame QB goes down, it opens the playbook up lol

Nope, Payton will draw up an offense that suits Teddy not the same as Drew's plan.
In my opinion this should include more roll outs. Move the pocket for Teddy.
Defenses will be playing to stop the run until Teddy proves he can throw the ball so I imagine we will see plenty of 8 men fronts until Teddy completes some down field passes. I think we will be alright this week against the sea chickens.
Dallas was going to be a struggle with Drew but they also lost a receiver on Sunday in Gallup (sic). I think we can go 4-2 without Drew maybe even 5-1 if the defense stops giving up the big play.

I think it will be heavy heavy pass. Almost no running the whole game. A couple of splash plays and we have a game.

That will be the key to the offense. What kind of plan or attack does Payton come up with for TB or TH? Get them on the move and let the WRs stretch the field. Which should give both of them more space and easier reads. I’m more worried about how the line is playing so far. They have to do their job better!
