9:18 PT: Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com league sources have confirmed the New Orleans Saints are interested in acquiring free agent S Tebucky Jones (Patriots). Saints coach Jim Haslett is said to covet Jones, whose marvelous physical skills are sometimes countermanded by inconsistent play. New Orleans has two first-round draft choices and might be willing to part with one to improve a secondary that is the team's weakest position. The Saints almost certainly would want to formulate a long-term agreement with Jones before any trade. Agent Gary Wichard said Tuesday night he has not talked to New Orleans officials.

Will someone please tell why the hell it matters how marvelous the guys physical skills are,if he plays inconsistently? Haslett covets him? Covet= to wish for enviously. I covet Woodson........make the move..........get a clue.......I swear sometimes, our team should be called The Mediocres....except a logo and mascot would be tough to find.

Mediocre does not accurately portray the spirit of our team in my mind. I think the \"could-woulda-shouldas\" or the \"should-have-by nows\" or the \"might-but-probably-never-wills\" fit better.

As for Jones. I like that move, assuming they give no more than a third round pick to secure him now. As for Woodson - as usual the entire world knows what they should do and would have done it by now - but they\'re still unsure I guess.

The only comment I\'ve heard that might come close to explaining they\'re ridiculous behavior in regards to Woodson at this point came from Pak in a chat last night. He thinks that maybe Al Davis wants both our number 1s for Woodson. It\'s not like Al Davis hasn\'t asked for deals that ridiculous before (see Gruden). I think maybe they are holding out to get a first for Turley and they won\'t make a move for Woodson until they get their first for Turley (which probably won\'t happen). Of course, both of these ideas are complete and total speculation. The only other option is that the Saints organization is making yet another infamous bone-head decision. You know what they say - The simplest answer is usually the correct one.

thats right whodat, i did say that yesterday, and it is a very good possibility that is what he is doing, or here is another situation... he might be waiting to see if we trade turley for possibly another 1st rounder and he might want that pick, if it is higher then our other firsts....i doubt he would be stupid to ask for 3 firsts....no one would be stupid enough to make that deal... at least i hope not :casstet:
