Sully at it again:

I think it maybe time to forget about him and say bye bye:

Saints | Sullivan Still Struggling with His Weight
Sun, 24 Jul 2005 07:22:25 -0700

Mike Detillier, of the Courier, reports New Orleans Saints DT Johnathan Sullivan is running out of time to make an impact with the Saints. He has excellent athletic skills, but he has struggled to stay in shape consistently. The word is that he weighs around 345 pounds, well over the 310-pound weight ceiling the Saints gave him this spring.

RE: Sully at it again:

I heard he weighs more than that, more like 370 but then again rumors spread. He might have gone from 370 to 345, they were talking at mini camp that we was 317, what a bunch of BS. He looked like a hamburger.

This guy has been one of the worst draft choices for us ever and that gives me a thought I think I'll start a poll now, thanks Halo.

U are what u eat.......right!!!

TheGambler 07-26-2005 10:32 AM

What happened to all that talk about monitoring Sullivan's eating habits, and off-field activities during the offseason? DIdnt i read that somewhere?

Anyway, I'd love to see Sullivan be the 2005 Comeback Player of the Year.

yasoon 07-26-2005 10:45 AM

Comeback from what? You have to have once been something to comeback :)

LordOfEntropy 07-26-2005 10:53 AM

Good point.

TheGambler 07-26-2005 11:22 AM

I thought it also applied to people who never amounted to squat, but came around to have a really good season?

Sorta like Tommy Maddox a few years back.

Anyway, point being......I hope Sullivan surprises alot of folks.

yasoon 07-26-2005 11:29 AM

I'm with you on that Gambler. I would love to see him do something, but I don't see alot of signs pointing to the positive.

The worst part is he had character concerns coming in and here they are smacking us in the head. 2 first rounders. I just don't know that he's got it in him. New Orleans isn't exactly known for turning around lazy malcontents :)

I'll give him a 20% shot at starting and making some sort of an impact, but I'm just some dork on a computer in Georgia. I hope I'm wrong.

LordOfEntropy 07-27-2005 12:33 AM

I give him a 0% chance of starting. He's finished.

He'll be cut next year, though.

And I hope he's bankrupt in five years, and has to sit the rest of his wasted life eating hot dogs, while regretting the lack of drive or motivation that got him there.

RockyMountainSaint 07-27-2005 02:54 AM

I think the most galling thing about Sullivan is this:

A comfortable yearly income for a single man might be $50,000. This is open to debate but I think this might be a good median income for our board. If nothing else let's use it as a control salary.

For said man to make in a lifetime the equivalent of Sullivan's guaranteed money from signing bonus and roster bonus he would have to live 230 years!

230 freaking years of performing well or getting shown the door! Meanwhile this clown cannot even dress for games and he isn't injured! He is seen eating fistfuls of hotdogs during games!

If you have a spouse who also makes 50k annually it would take ya'll 115 years together to equal that figure. $11.5 million guaranteed. My cynical side says she would divorce you and take 90% anyway.

The guy made it through High School on his merits.
Then College. UGA isn't a football factory so he must have made grades there.
Now he has to earn a living and decides.... "why bother? $11.5 mil guaranteed". He has been quoted by team mates as having said this.

Bye-Bye Johnathan.
You are too depressing to think about anymore.

LordOfEntropy 07-27-2005 09:39 AM

I would be ok with it if he had tried and failed. Really. Show me effort, give me some motivation. If you're just not good enough after that, then fine, I have no beef with you.

But this guy doesn't try. He takes his money, laughs his way to the bank, and apathetically destroys the hopes of fans without care.

Which makes him scum in my book. So I honestly hope he finds bankruptcy soon (surpising how many NFL players and lottery winners do that). And has to regret it all his life.

I'm starting to understand Sully's way of thinking. He figures since we gave up two first round picks to get him that he needs to actually be the size of two defensive tackles.
