Can we win this year

Early to predict but what has people thinking the 2005 Saints are any different than the 2004, 2003 (you get the picture). Every off season we hear about AB's improvement -- whats different -- the fact that we are simplfying the offfense (won't that make it easier to defend) -- we hear about how we are just about ready to kick down the door into the playoffs === Problem is what is really different -- Until Brown signs our offensive line is still a work in progress -- emphazing the running game sounds great -- but unless the defense steps up to the plate running the ball when you are down 17 points doesn't sound like a winning strategy to me --

What is different -- well its a new season -- we have not lost a game and to be pessimistic doesn't sound like fun. As a long suffering Saints fan this is the time for dreams ---a time to think about our improved team -- about the upcoming season -- and who knows -- some dreams do eventually come true --

they arent simplifying the offense..just the way they are called out to AB..he takes to long to compute in his friggin head what play is what so this way..by simplifying the play calling..he can get out of the huddle faster and check down his recieviers quicker..less deley of games and if he can check it down faster(which this worries me the most)less sacks..we will see

... yes they could, but I don't expect them to do that much better than last year; not that I don't want them to do better than last year (or the previous 3 years for that matter)...

... for the past 2 years, the Saints have virtually no injury issues.. yes, Deuce was nicked last year, and Horn the year before, and Donte has had some issues with the hammie, but the Saints have not been hit with a rash of injuries a la Chicago Bears or Carolina Panthers that decimate the team...

..last year, the NFC stunk. There were plenty of bad teams with 1st year coaches/systems, teams riddled with injuries, and the Bucs; the NFC was so bad, that 8-8 got you in the NFC playoffs...

...yet, the Saints failed to accomplish anything, other than a dubious 4-win streak at the end...

...this year, the situation in the NFC may not be as favorable, and while the Saints may have improved a couple of positions, so have the other teams. Just in the NFC South, the Panthers get their roster back, and I don't expect the Falcons to tank it...

..now, I'm not saying that the Saints cannot beat the Panthers or the Falcons, they could.. but I'm looking at the overall picture... the Saints not only have to at least split with these 2, they have to win more games overall than these 2 for a spot in the playoffs...

.. I'm just going to cheer and drink a lot of Guinness before, during, and after each game...

Its not that he can't figure out the play... when you use to many words, it take more seconds to get it to the field and then to the QB. That equals more time to line up and read the D and work out the blocking. This is good news for the offense... simplifying the offense is really the wrong term to use, changing the lexicon/terminology maybe better. Scrappying a few plays and adding some isn't a bad idea either. Got to use that FB more and often. Play action is a beautiful thing.

dont worry about Brown signing. By Smith signing, even though it was a huge deal, will probably create a domino effect and the first rdrs will start signing.
