SAINTS AGREE TO TERMS WITH SECOND ROUND PICK BULLOCKS ON FOUR-YEAR DEAL

http://www.neworleanssaints.com/news...articleid=1509

The New Orleans Saints agreed to terms on a four-year contract with S Josh Bullocks, it was announced today by Vice-President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. Bullocks -- the clubs second-round pick (40th overall) in Aprils NFL Draft -- earned All-America honors, set a single-season interception record and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award during his career at Nebraska.

In 2004, Bullocks (6-foot-1, 207 pounds) was voted second-team All-Big 12 after recording 63 tackles (43 solo) and a pair of interceptions. It was a solid encore to his standout 2003 season, when he posted a conference-record 10 interceptions, garnered All-America honors from The Sporting News and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nations top defensive back.

In his career, Bullocks started 28 of 36 games and had 160 stops (92 solo), a fumble recovery, a forced fumble, 17 pass deflections and 13 interceptions for 211 yards in returns. Despite playing three seasons after a redshirt freshman year, his interception total ranks second in Cornhuskers record books.

Bullocks is the fourth New Orleans draft pick to agree to contract terms. He joins LB Alfred Fincher (third round), DT Jason Jefferson (sixth round) and DE Jimmy Verdon (seventh round).

New Orleans opens training camp practices Friday, July 29.
