Observations from the Saints win over the Panthers

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Agree with most points, particularly the refs... it’s getting more and more obvious. Aside from that, Defense played like trash. You have 1 guy to contain and you let him burn you every play. As someone else said he was ...

As someone else said he was wide open by 10yds half the time he caught the ball... poor coaching and bad defense by the secondary. Williams showed today why he isn’t a starting CB. We need Lattimore back against ATL!

Re: Observations from the Saints win over the Panthers

I agree with all the good stuff listed above. And for the left side of the O-line to survive was great.

So far, the dumbest play of the entire year was Cam's gut punch. C'mon man. That was a 14 point swing. We had all the momentum, and I have no doubt we go up 21-0, game over.

But Noooooooooo, we just had to find a way to **** it up.

Even if the officiating wasn't one sided, there were still too many penalties. We have to play with better discipline. We are a great team playing sloppy football. Luckily our B-game will still beat most teams we play. If we play mistake free, no one in the league can beat us.

Cam is a terrific player but that punch after the whistle was DUMB.

Armstead being carted off is nauseating and why isn't Kamara playing better?

Very glad that the Saints won this game because it was a hard game to watch. They need to keep winning to get the home field advantage (even though they haven't been playing well at home.)

Word on Armstead is an ankle injury. Lots of gimpy ankles this year.

I think the defense did an ok job. PJ and play calling we’re just terrible. Those swing passes/sweeps they kept running hurt. It was like no one was covering guys out of the backfield.

It's very difficult to stop both the Panther's passing and Mccaffrey simultaneously with Lattimore out. If Lattimore played, the Panthers would have had a much lower score.

Ginn needs to see the bench or the unemployment line.

It's difficult to watch him hurt our team near enough every week.

Re: Observations from the Saints win over the Panthers

  • Thought we should have run Murray between the tackles more and use Kamara off-tackle and in the flats as Carolina had with CMC...

  • One of the ingredients to an elite team is you have to be six-seven deep on the offensive line, and with Armstead going down, that was highlighted...

  • Ted Ginn is one of the most over-rated players in the NFL; 34 yo WR that can't run routes nor have reliable hands, never mind age/speed thing...

  • The priorities for re-signing/extending on defense should be Apple, Onyemata, Mr. Marcus, Vonn Bell, Rankins; Apple is responding to Glenn's coaching...

  • Speaking of, expect Glenn and Gardner to have some quality time after practice this week, Glenn looked displeased, especially with a sideline scrum...

  • Really don't like giving Payton the excuse of failure with poor officiating, but today was clearly one-sided, skewed against the Saints...

  • No folks think it came back to haunt us, but I like that Payton challenged early and called BS on some of these bogus offensive PI calls...

  • Thomas continues to show his contract was money well-spent; even more so when against the backdrop of the other no-show WRs on this roster...

  • Speaking of money well-spent, Lutz continues to distance the painful memory of losing games because of suspect place kicking...

Dizz...

Who are you going to play in his place? It gets worse with Tre'Quan Smith...

We literally have four (4) active WRs on the roster; best WR in football; an old, slow "speed" WR; a regressing developmental 3R reach WR, and a recently promoted practice squad WR who's got more hair than game...
