DAMN! I hate seeing things like this. Stinch is a good guy, very smart, hard-working, and dedicated. He was finally coming around. I thought he might take Gandy's spot this season or next if given the chance. Thought he could be a good tackle for us for a long time. Now who knows. Man that sucks. I guess we better hope Gandy is up to the task this season. :x

Hey its not even preseason for us until Friday... this is still camp.

Good luck Stinch.

Gotta agree with ya Stockman, %100. I've said it before, preseason is a complete waste of time and careers. Gimme 20 regular season games. There's just no point to preseason whatsoever.

The weak argument of "it helps you finalize your players" is inadequate. Pick your players in camp, put them on the field, and make it count. Since injuries count all year (whether preseason or not), the games should as well.

Stinchcomb has surgery

Procedure a success; Saints looking for replacement at OT

Offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb had successful surgery on his right knee Wednesday, but he will not play this season.

Saints coach Jim Haslett said the third-year backup will need six or seven months of rehabilitation after suffering a ruptured patella tendon during Tuesday's practice.

The Saints are looking into adding a tackle, according to General Manager Mickey Loomis, but the free agent pool is thin.

Wow. Translation - we're not real comfortable with Gandy. I don't blame them. Seemed to me like there were decent FA tackles out there, no? Joe posted a list - did anyone take a look?

LordOfEntropy 08-11-2005 07:11 PM

I think they actually really are pretty comfortable with Gandy at that spot - rather, I read this as just the team is worried about replacing Gandy if/when he goes down.

I mean, with Stinch gone, who does that leave? Brown? Nah, he's a rookie, he needs at least a year on the right side. Mayberry? Again nah, I hear Mayberry's been pushed around camp like a Winn Dixie shopping cart. Folau? Nah, he wasn't able to handle the right side, much less the left. There's no depth at LT.

It's a serious concern.
