Ricky is still Ricky

Well although Ricky only played in a few series tonight, he looks like the same running back. He will get his 1,000+ yards in Miami which happens when you carry the ball 35-40 times a game. But Ricky will never be a great running back. Here's my list of 5 reasons why:

1. He's not a team player. The guys in Miami love him right now because they think he's their saviour. I say they start complaining about him by the beginning of the next season.

2. He has no balance. Deuce was tripped the other night but still managed to rgain his balance and gain another 5-6 yards before another tackler brought him down. Ricky would've fell a yard after the trip. He's way too easy to tackle by the ankles.

3. He's not the power back that he is hyped up to be. Power backs are guys like Alstott, Bettis, Riggins, etc. Ricky will power over a guy but fall 2 yards after he breaks the tackle. The other backs mentioned above just keep on chugging. Even Pittman tonight looked like he had more power than Ricky.

4. He doesn't have that competitive nature. When it's time to lay it all on the line, Ricky backs away.

5. He has no heart. Ricky plays for Ricky. It will be amusing to watch how his teammates and the city of Miami repond to him when he starts blaming everyone else.

Not sure about anyone else but I would love to see a Saints/Dolphins Superbowl.

You over looked the ever popular Bowling pin theory .

Ricky Williams as a runningback , see\'s defenders as bowling pins and rather than run around them or follow a block , he loves to try and bowl them over . He is one of the few runners I have ever seen , that will avoid a few extra yards gained to pummel a safety . He is the master of turning a 10 yard gain into a 7 yard gain by heading straight into a defender .

Saintz08\'s comment is the reason I believe the saints will not get another first round pick for Ricky. He is the reason he is always hurt. Instead of falling for the extra yards he wants to punish someone. He will not make it through many seasons that way. I dont see him hitting 1500 yards this year. Do you think if the dolphins are out of the playoff picture by week 14 or 15 they will continue to let Ricky run or sit him to ensure they dont lose there first rounder next year. I believe they will sit him and save their pick. If they are in the playoffs come the last week or two and Ricky has 1400 yards do they play him and let him get his 1500 or sit him and save the pick. I just dont see Miami letting him get his yards late unless they are fighting for a playoff spot the last week. From what I remember about Rickys contract he has to get his yards to get his money. I think that would cause a lot of controversy if he is close and they sit him. Hopefully he gets his yards early and often so there is no worrys

I am dangling a thin line on that one too .

Wannstadt is going to have to use him to prove he was worth it , so he gets yards early .
Ricky has something to prove , so he pushes himself .
Last season here , no injuries .
He no longer plays on concrete , so he looses a little wear and tear , might not get injured as easily .
Late season games might put him in the snow and rain where it is harder to pass and a running game is more needed .

It could be close .

Doesn\'t he have to get that 1250 or 1500 before the playoffs start? I\'m not sure about this one but I would assume that the deal applies to his regular season totals only. Anyone can get 1250 yards if they play an extra 3 or 4 games.
Ricky was the same old Ricky Monday night. No vision, no feet. He looks like he\'s running underwater. Ricky won\'t get 1500 this year because he\'ll be injured. The Dolphins are digging their own grave by hyping him up and putting all the weight on his shoulders. He said in that interview that the reason he didn\'t do well in NO was because of all the pressure we put on him to carry the team. At least WE have a decent quarterback. With Jay Fiedler behind center opposing defenses might put 9 guys in the box this year.
I hate Ricky Williams and everything he stands for. He\'s a walking PR campaign, not a player. I consider this year a win-win situation.
1) if he stays healthy, he gets the 1250 and we get a second rounder.
2) if, and when he gets injured we get to laugh it up, point our fingers Easterly and say, \"I told you so!\"

This might seem a little harsh to some people but I\'m a glutton for irony.

Well everybody\'s gonna think that I\'m crazy for saying this but I could care less about the draft pick this year from the Ricky trade. I know it\'s my heart talking over my brain but I\'m just sick of the whole Ricky thing. I would honestly get more enjoyment out of watching Ricky fall on his face than I would in getting a low 1st or 2nd round draft pick.

The city of New Orleans took him in with open arms and completely bought into his hype. And all he did in return was embarass the fans, his team, and the city. I will never forget his remarks in SI nor his constant PR disasters. I\'m also tired of every critic suddenly touting Ricky as the next coming of Marshall Faulk just because he is now with the Dolphins. It\'s amazing how that Miami is now being picked as the AFC Superbowl representative just because they added Ricky. Well, they didn\'t do it a few years ago when Lamar Smith put up \"Ricky-Like\" numbers so what makes them think that they can do it now? Fact is, Ricky will never be great, He was given chance after chance in New Orleans and he still let everyone down. Even now he can\'t let it go. I\'m with Joe Horn on this one - you\'re on a new team now, just let it go.

So, in saying that, I hope that Ricky falls right on his dreadlocked face this year.

I agree with most of what you said cassady except that the pick isnt important. Ditka gave up so much that there has to be something in return. I wish Ricky the best for one season. Ricky for MVP. Then let him fall on his face, break his ankle, turf toe, hyperextend his elbow, and what ever else you want to say. I just have one chant this year. 1500 yards RUN RICKY RUN.

The odds of Ricky hitting the 1500 yd mark could be pretty good if you consider :

Ricky Williams is brought to New Orleans to replace a sub par runningback named Lamar Smith , Ricky gets his 1000 yards . Smith goes to Miami where he does what he could not in New Orleans , he gets the 1000 yards .

Ricky does this behind what is now being considered an overrated front line , which has now been revamped . This does not appear to be the case in Miami .

Williams in comparison to Smith , Williams is the better back .

If this does not work for you , consider the new Offensive Coordinator in Miami is Norv Turner . Norv might have a few tricks on getting Ricky out of the backfield ...

I would love to see Ricky do well, for only one reason: We get a better draft pick. Ricky will get his yards due to the number of carries although I\'m not very well versed on the Fins OLine. Rocky is like Alstott....run parallel to the line easy to bring down, run North ,South he will bowl you over with momentum and strength.
