Baltimore scores first play?

C'mon, only 20 seconds into the game, and the Saints are -already- down 7 points?

It's nice to see that our run defense has improved so much this year.

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 07:13 PM

RE: Baltimore scores first play?

Yeah, that 6.6 yards per rush the defense had been giving up is starting to look good.

LordOfEntropy 08-26-2005 07:16 PM

RE: Baltimore scores first play?

Now Chester's up to 93 yards in just two carries. Boy, it's a good thing Jamal Lewis isn't in the game.

RE: Baltimore scores first play?

Why are they trying to pass? Run it, Billick. Get 300 yards rushing, please.

LordOfEntropy 08-26-2005 07:19 PM

RE: Baltimore scores first play?

At this rate, 300 yards rushing will only take 4 plays.

Thank God they don't run every play.

ssmitty 08-26-2005 07:21 PM

90 yards in 2 rushes.................
i am worried.......................smitty

spkb25 08-26-2005 07:24 PM

sounds like the run d is looking great. wow what a really long season this will be. well if we end up stinking against the run i guess has might finally be gone and lets just hope that the new coach doesnt keep venturi lol

LordOfEntropy 08-26-2005 07:25 PM

You should be. And now Sedric Hodge false starts on the punt.

Man, this is getting demoralizing.

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 07:26 PM

Venturi has that confused look of bewilderment. Why does he always look like that?

spkb25 08-26-2005 07:28 PM

scotty because he is. i think the guy looks like jerry garcia. maybe he just smokes a big pipe before the game

LordOfEntropy 08-26-2005 07:37 PM

4 carries for 117 yards so far. And this is their second stringer. My God.

Thank you Rick Venturi.

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 07:39 PM

I have been highly disappointed in Sully for a while now, but he just threw his o-lineman to the ground and made a great play!

The D is starting to play better now.

LordOfEntropy 08-26-2005 07:40 PM

Wish I could see it. I'm listening to 870 am, doesn't air down here locally until midnight.

Good for Sully!!

saintz08 08-26-2005 07:41 PM

Maybe Hasbeen will keep the 1st string in til the 4th quarter and the Saints can score some points on the practice squad ......

spkb25 08-26-2005 07:43 PM

lol saintz. man this is going to be another long season. is anyone else starting to get convinced that we have a couple of good players on each side and that the rest of our team just isnt good. i mean really good teams win. we just cant seem to do anything right. man i hyope i am wrong but i am starting to think that we are in for a long season.

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 07:44 PM

Maybe if Henderson could catch we already would have scored???

spkb25 08-26-2005 07:45 PM

well if not for the first two runs of 93 yards taylor has only averaged over 7 yards per carry. thats pretty good lol

Scotty, what happened? i'm just watching the game with the nfl.com gamecast. what did henderson do?

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 07:50 PM

3rd and long. AB hits him jut a tad behind but very catchable and he flat dropped it. There's a drop that kiiled a drive!

lynwood 08-26-2005 07:53 PM

thanks.

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 07:55 PM

Bockwoldt is everywhere!

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 07:55 PM

The pass D looks good. Boller is clearly rattled. If they could slow down the rush, there'd be no problem.

LordOfEntropy 08-26-2005 07:57 PM

I've heard Sullivan's name three times in a row, making plays. Has the light come on?

Did Stallworth just burn Dale Carter?

spkb25 08-26-2005 08:00 PM

scotty i was looking and saw that he was in on three tackles in a row. not to bad colby

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 08:01 PM

Couldn't tell who it was but he had about 3 yards on his man. AB stepped up INTO the pocket and delivered a nice pass. Stallworth almost took it to the house!

spkb25 08-26-2005 08:05 PM

brookis seems to look ok tonight

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 08:09 PM

yeah, then we got to the red zone.

spkb25 08-26-2005 08:12 PM

well at least were not being shocked. its familiar

LordOfEntropy 08-26-2005 08:14 PM

Not as bad as it could've been. Hokie said Ray Lewis had the ball hit him between the 5 and the 2... I'm just glad he didn't catch it and run it back.

yasoon 08-26-2005 08:26 PM

We suck. I don't care what happens. Our defense still sucks. AB hit Ray Lewis in the chest on the 5 yard line. The 47 yard pass was a freaking duck.

The only good thing I saw was Brooks stepping forward to avoid the rush. I like that.

Sweep around the right side 1st and goal from the 7? Fantastic play call against the fastest D in the league. They swarmed him. We suck. Our coaches suck and I'm just not sure I'm ready to watch this undisciplined crap for another season.

spkb25 08-26-2005 08:32 PM

bro i feel your pain

lynwood 08-26-2005 08:37 PM

the only good i can see is we are only down 8 points at the half.

yasoon 08-26-2005 08:37 PM

We spiked the ball on 2nd and 1 with 32 seconds left and a timeout then got stuffed on 3rd down. WOW. Seriously guys, this really sucks. You have to look at the coaching behind this stuff. And we still can't get a 3rd and 1.

I know it's preseason, but I hate what I'm seeing. Bad coaching. AB has good numbers and no points. More style over substance crap that we've become accustomed to. Overpursuit and zero discipline by the defense. The Saints suck balls.

ScottyRo 08-26-2005 08:40 PM

OK, here's the thing on that roughing the passer BS. Yeah, McKinnon hit him head on, but Boller was intentionally falling backwards to lessen the blow, which obviously lowered the position of his head. McKinnon probably would have hit him should pad high otherwise. Still, as a veteran LB you have to know that might happen and go a bit lower.

I thought Haslet was going to body slam the ref that made the call. I love that about him. It's just too bad he had to keep Venturi.

lynwood 08-26-2005 08:42 PM

seems i saw more creativity last game. get zack hilton involved and how about getting the ball to our FB?

stockman311 08-26-2005 08:54 PM

McKenzie burnt for TD after the Boller head planting. I am not impressed at all with the D. They overpurse. Every long run Baltimore has had has been on a sweep to one side and then a cutback by the RB. STAY AT FREAKING HOME LB's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you learn nothing against Seattle last year in the season opener????????
Is anyone pissed now that we took a day off to eat Boiled Lobster and Chicken Wings instead of practicing tackling and pursuit angles????????? Euphoria, I'm talking to you.

yasoon 08-26-2005 09:03 PM

Dude, if a bunch of pros didn't already know how to hold their lanes and take proper angles, I doubt a day of eating wings held them back. Seriously.

It is much bigger than a day off.

No.

I like it too.

Jim Henderson pointed that out, complimented him on the radio. Haslett has made a lot of decisions I didn't agree with - but I do like his fire on the sidelines.

I'm pretty disgusted with the run defense, and pretty disgusted with another red-zone failure. I'll hold off onto full-blown *****ing though until I see the rebroadcast later tonight.

I've been hearing Jonathan Sullivan and Colby Bockwoldt all night. Kudo's to these guys.

lynwood 08-26-2005 09:13 PM

Is nate poole dropping passes or is Todd missing him?
