Falcons Cut Price

Quote:

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Peerless Price knew that NFL teams would make two rounds of cuts this week, so he asked coach Jim Mora to gauge his future with the Atlanta Falcons.

Not good, Mora said.

Less than 2½ years after sending a first-round draft pick to Buffalo and rewarding the receiver with a $37 million contract, the Falcons waived Price on Tuesday.

Price and Mora met in the coach's office before the team began practice. According to Mora, Price wanted to know if he would be with the team when Atlanta opens the season against Philadelphia on Sept. 12.

"I knew what was coming, so I'm not going to lie to him," Mora said. "I'm not going to say, 'Hey, put your stuff on, go out there and give it your best. Nothing's been decided.' I'm not going to lie to the guy. It's not fair to him."

The Falcons also waived quarterback Bryan Randall, receiver Kendrick Mosley and defensive ends Gabe Nyenhuis and Erik Flowers to reach the 65-man limit. Teams must release 12 more players by Sunday.

This isn't terribly surprising. I just hope no team in the South picks him up. I know he can help some team and I don't want him to help any of our division foes. Hey Kansas City, here's a WR for you.

wow. Are you serious?

Harrison, Wayne, Stokley, and Price? That's more dangerous than what the Rams had in Bruce, Holt, Hakim, and Proehl.

Price is talking with the Patriots.

Add the Cowboys to the list.

From Espn.com...

The Cowboys appear to be leading the sweepstakes for receiver Peerless Price, who was released Tuesday by the Falcons, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Coach Bill Parcells told the paper he had spoken with Price, and the receiver's agent, Tim McGee, said Price was to speak with Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones for the second time on Wednesday.

"I think he's a pretty good player," Parcells said of Price. "We're just trying to turn over every rock."

Price is a former teammate of then-Bills quarterback Drew Bledsoe.

"With Drew's relationship with Peerless, that's something we'd like to explore," McGee told the paper Tuesday of the talks with Dallas.

However, Parcells also told the paper he believed the Cowboys' "receiving corps will be OK" without adding Price.
