For those looking at filling needs this is not really a mock to look at. This is more a mock of Freaks that had some questions to answer during the bowl games and did just that.

1st
O.J. Howard TE Alabama 6055 251 4.57 #88 Sr

HGT WGT HAND ARM WING
6055 249 10 33 7/8 80 3/8

The freak - Solidified how good he really is and will be. The under-utilization receiving TE that offers mismatch opportunities and under valued blocker to boot. “His upside is through the roof,” another scout said, referring to Howard. “He’s a phenomenal human being and a great worker. At Alabama, you’re a blocker first and a receiver second. He’s grown as a blocker from a toughness and effort standpoint, and as a receiver he’s still a little untapped.” Howard is an explosive athlete with breakaway speed, lateral agility, and balance and is projected to be a tight end/hybrid slot receiver that is more reliable run blocker than people give him credit for.

2nd
Haason Reddick, ILB, Temple 6014 237 4.54 #58 rSr

The DE/OLB “tweener” label is blown to hell and back. The undersized walk-on DE walk into the Senior Bowl and answered every question and then some. People now wonder why this walk-on was not playing WLB all along. I am starting to wonder is he can some depth at safety if needed. So much for that mid round steal labe. The secret is out He proved he is more than capable in pass coverage.

Pre Senior Bowl Review.
He played running back and defensive back in high school and those skills were on display. . Unlike most walk-on's, Reddick is not some below average athlete. Quite the contrary, his testing should be among the best of all the linebackers and defensive ends.Well this is all about certain now. Athleticism and quickness to put pressure on the quarterback. Reddick easily bends the edge as a pass-rusher, but can also function as a run-and-chase linebacker. His back side pursuit is clearly an asset.

He was one of a select few players allowed to wear a single-digit jersey number, an honor awarded by a team vote for the toughest players(toughness). He’s willing to play whatever position a team asks (team-first), and he played in every game last year (dependable). He was productive (10.5 sacks, 21.5 tackles for loss in 2016).

All the elements the Saints desperately need on defense?
toughness + team-first + dependable + versatility + speed + athleticism

Bowl preview
Capable of making plays all over the field. doesn’t have ideal size, especially for a player who derives so much value from his skills as a pass rusher.he can cover tight ends and running backs while staying strong against the run

3rd
Obi Melifonwu FS/SS/OLB UConn 6032 216 4.58? #20 rSr

Senior Bowl.
Well speed looks a lot better than I questioned. This is kid is all he was billed to be. Smart and athletic. But Raw. He's a matchup player; DA will have to figure out how to use him. His range in the middle of the field was outstanding. In the NFC South his skills will be well served.

Pre Senior Bowl Review.
Raw but a size/speed freak with good ball skills. "The UConn safety is really intriguing. He's freaky athletic and he's going to put up big-time testing numbers. He'll run low 4.4s (in the 40-yard dash) and jump over 40 inches. He can play in the slot as well. Huge upside." He can cover tight ends and big WR.

At 6-foot-4 and 219 pounds, Can he run a sub- 4.6 40 much less a sub 4.5?

4th
Kevin King CB/FS Washington 6032 192 4.56 #20 Sr

RAW but potential is sky high. Rare athlete in terms of athleticism and quickness especially for a guy so big. 3-cone time of 6.40 seconds??? strong safety-turned-corner? Groom for FS? has value at both safety. all three CB spots, and has plus bend for a potential press CB? He has the height, length and speed that translates well to the next level.

5th
Michael Roberts TE, Toledo 6043 261 4.93 #11 Sr

HGT WGT HAND ARM WING
6043 261 11 5/8 33 1/4 80 3/4

He is a throwback tight - block-first tight end who knows how to catch, actually he is a very good blocker, runs good routes and catches the ball well with his hands.Actually engulfing the ball with those 11 5/8" mights. Think a more complete version of Anthony Fasano. Gotta get a watch on this kid. 4.93?

Bowl Review
Hmmmmm listed player ...... skeptical late breakout TD Freak. 15 TDs. has a great adversity to growth back story

Round 7
Jamari Staples, WR/KR Louisville 6026 195 4.45 #2 rSr

HGT WGT HAND ARM WING
6030 190 9 5/8 32 3/4 78 1/8

My Rodney Dangerfield award winner of college football. The concussion early on at the senior bowl was extremely heart breaking. A fast 6'3" WR with a 41-inch vertical leap and strong hands to secure a catch is not all that easy to come by. It appears to be the total package still waiting for the wrappings and bow. A receiver with size and strength and speed and maturity. The #1 knock is he is RAW . So he is a raw. big, fast, physical WR that is also explosive. Has plenty room to grow on the field as fills out that frame. What more do you really want out of a developmental seventh round pick?

Then why is he not talked about? Long road to get to LU. JUCO to UAB and then followed Petrino to UL. By all rights I have to believe he has a solid football IQ after all the travels to produce 73 passes for 1,253 yards and five touchdowns. That includes sitting out 4 games in 2016 after a knee injury playing on special teams. Then there is the system and QB at UL. That did not help.

What I like reading is this, “He’s just so mature on how he approaches his business on just about everything,” Petrino said. “That’s been good for all our young guys because they watch how he prepares. It’s helped them grow up.”
