I don't agree with the idea, that for 42 years we sucked either. I remember some very good seasons with Mora as coach, and some very great players back then. Did we win a play off, or a superbowl? No, but I definately got "spoiled", watching great defense with the dome patrol every week. I don't understand why people seem to think we never won a game before 09.

I disagree completely. The Falcons beat us. They did so because we allowed them to do it. We would be 3-0 but by our own accord. Atlanta didn't study film and beat us through the determination of beating the defending Super Bowl champs. We lost because we are not playing championship calibre football. 40+ years of losing notwithstanding, we are right to expect our team to play MUCH better than it has played thus far.

I'm not about to give this year's team a pass on poor play because previous teams didn't measure up - I fail to grasp that concept.

The fact is the offense is sputtering. The Vikings game should not have been so close. San Francisco was doing quite well in "poor passing conditions", and Atlanta's Falcons used their TE to exploit our defense for 4 quarters.

Rarely have I been pessimistic about my New Orleans Saints, and I'm not saying the sky is falling, but I believe too many people are willing to overlook things because we, as a group, are proud of what last year's team was finally able to accomplish.

This is a new year, a new team, and, unfortunately, thus far different results are being seen. I am frustrated because we aren't playing with swagger. We aren't playing with the same passion, the same immediacy, the same heart.

Unfortunately, our losses are squarely on our own shoulders. They are not the result of being game planned as Champions.

Nicely put. I remember when the Bills went four times in a row and lost each time. What we have is a gumbo that has been simmering for 43 years, and every body wants some. The longer the wait the better the pay off I say. I hope folks don't get whinny like the spoiled rotten Steeler fans when they come up short.

Sapper I apologize. Re-reading your opening post, I feel like I've hijacked your thread here. I meant well.

I did a good deal of reading here before I started posting, and looked at some old threads, and so in my first post, expressed that I definitely feel I missed out on your friend JoeSam. Even more considering his home was listed at Crystal Beach... which tells me much, I dont know how to express it, you'd just have to hang w/ the people there.... Reading his writings, I cant help but feel like I know him.

I'm certainly enjoying the site. Its good talking & reading about the Saints, and not having politics shoved down my throat. The discussion is lively, but unlike the last place I posted, everyone here seems to be taking their meds as scheduled, and not spitting pea soup.

Already some folks here have showed up at my favorite sports bar here in Houston and joined the real-life Saints party--- which shows you the positive power here. This is much more about supporting the team and each other, and less about playing Dungeons & Dragons & spewing out the nonsense that chokes most of the internet.

One suggestion: I'd like to see a [B]Louisiana/ Gulf Coast sub-forum[/B] where you can discuss topics or share information relatable to folks who either live in or visit the region. You could talk about anything from what to see in New Orleans/Gulf Coast, to crawfish boiling, things happening in the state, concerts? festivals? hurricane info? history? small town stories? fishing? oil industry stuff? Mardi Gras? Whatever we're interested in.

I know I'm always looking for the best hole in the wall bars/restaurants, bed & breakfasts in the middle of nowhere, and [B]secret escape routes[/B] out of N.O. after Saints games.

Sorry I can not give you grief on this one. I agree with everything you have said. I to still get mushy when Joe is the topic. Call me girlie boy if you want and I will dress the part. It was Joe that got me so involved in this site as he did with so many others here.

Thanks for the kind words. It was hard at first when JoeSam passed away. He was like a brother and a partner in everything with this site- he was a good friend.

It's been hard keeping up with the site and making it go, but so many other people have stepped up to help moderate, give recommendations, and just write to say hi. It helps when you have a community of people to back you up when it can be a lot of work keeping a site like this going.

This site is for the members. We're not ban happy or anything- if something goes wrong everyone can look at themselves and ask why. While some are content contributors, others are nay-sayers, some just come to read what is going on. What I remind everyone is we're all Saints fans, or the Saints have brought us here somehow. When everyone gets their feathers ruffled, that's a great mantra that this site lives by.

So with all the diverse people, we get along and that makes this site fun.

I hope everyone enjoys the site, and don't hesitate to PM or email me at anytime if you want to help or join in somehow.

Hey I cannot not give up either. I really think I bleed black and gold! I get so angry at them but I say ok but next week they just have to do better. And it goes the same for next week. Go figure haha. I happen to have a Saints mobile and to be not a true Saints fan I would of never did what i did to my new car. As soon as I download those pics you will see how truthful I am. If you cannot wait go to myspace and punch in Carlene Duet and you will see it for yourself but people don't ever give up on something just because they're down.

good call, ive been to most of the big name saint sites and this is the best by far. though we disagree no one ever calls anyone out or acts like a total dbag. thats all that happens on the other sites, its quite childish.

expecting others to agree with you is a waste of time anyway....im good with everyones opinion, its good for thinking outside the box....that is as long as no one likes that peanut butter that already comes with the jelly in the jar......gross!

I agree with the politics and religion. I had posted a thread congratulating Obama, as our president. Not whether or not I voted for him, just because Im an American and we need to support him. Got blasted as usual, got "negative" comments like, "I guess I'll have to watch Saints games in Canada" etc. Yep, mods do NOTHING about those. My posts, never a problem getting "reviewed". Warm and fuzzy from me or threats of banning commences. Never other negative posters or ones who post imho crude acronyms etc.

Great post. I am not a big poster on here but have been a member for several years now. This is my home for "SAINTS" news, opinion, and debate. Most of the folks on here don't even know me but I feel at home here. B&G continues to grow and get better. You said it right..we are a Saints family regardless of our other personal ties and beliefs. Lets keep it that way.

Well I am so glad to hear that from you. I too no matter what people think of our guys in Black N Gold I will always have faith in them. Yeah sure I get dissapointed in them but don't we have a right too? I love them and I have my white nissan Sentra covered in New Orleans Saints.
