For The Love of The Game.

I don't know if anyone noticed Monday nights game but a winless team (Dolphins) were going at it against a potencial Super Bowl contender.
I use to think one of the most crazy games I saw was when the mighty 49ers would play the Saints. Both teams solid in fact some call the 49ers of that time one of the greats with Montana at the helm. To see the outcome of the score as 6-3 I just thought 'crazy'. Monday night however beat that.
3-0. This day in age even a shut out is impossible you would think with the advancement of the passing game and rules to favor scoring. Not to mention a power house going up against a winless team. I know people want to see lots of touchdowns and high scoring because its so exciting. But what about the drama of a toe to toe, all out man to man combat, battle in the trenches.
When I turned the channel in the 4th quarter I didn't imagine the score being such nor would I be interested in the game but I sat down and watched and was excited about the game.
Do you know the lowest score on the record books is... 2-0 back in 1932 and 1938 both games featured the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. Monday night was pretty close. Now I don't suspect those games were 'ugly', but the one Monday night wasn't either. It was exciting to see who would score and win.
But I did realize one thing; for all the reasons all those years ago what few fans there were, they love the game and they are the same reasons we love the game now. Yes, Football is still football.

yes it was a good defensive game on a rain soaked field. The field was the worse I have seen. That is what happens with the system of sod rotation during the season. Just pray it does not rain before it takes hold. But in this case it did not happen. So the field dictated the game. I would play in the mud before I would play on that field.
As for the winless Dolphins. They have a good team. Most of there losses have come by 3 points or less and with a backup QB, RB and injuries through out the team during the season. I have made some good money on the dolphins and the points this year. So was I surprised by the score? NO. I pick up my winnings again today and will laugh all the way to the bank. Again.Posted 11-28-2007 at 05:42 AM by hagan714
