Q & A: Frank Wilson
Ben Love: What were some of your primary goals in your first year as recruiting coordinator?
Frank Wilson: My goal was to capture the state. There was an opportunity to do something that happens probably every 15 to 20 years in Louisiana - to have the amount of athletes that we have this year coming out of the state. So (the goal was) to put a fence around the state and keep as many as possible in the state of Louisiana to play for our flagship state university. BL: In keeping those state boundaries, talk about the importance of not only tapping into the New Orleans area but also staying there. FW: The metro New Orleans area is fertile ground for recruiting, but it’s also an area that is being populated by every major Division-I school in the country. Never before have we seen so many guys (there), even from Pac-10 schools, Big 12 and Big Ten schools, ACC schools as well as the SEC. For many years, it was a regional area. Guys from the SEC may have recruited in the area, but now it’s heavily populated by recruiters from all over the nation. Full article below. TigerRag - Q & A: Frank Wilson |
